Hemming Emergency

Postby Teej » Fri Jun 24, 2011 5:24 pm

BS no one cares about aside, some good **** happened and I now find myself pulling an all-nighter trying to have my entire unit garbbed in our uniform tomorrow.

Any hemming advice beyond fold and sew? Cause that's my current plan as soon as I finish my legal exam... and only plan until 11am.

Hem tape buddy. Comes in Peel & Stick (for temp fixes) and Iron On (more permanent).

Rock it and post pics.

EDIT: Stitch witch and other hem/fabric glues also work well for emergencies, but take time to dry.

Second the hem tape. You might also see it as "Steam-a-Seam".

Good luck!

I won't be ashamed to admit, for a buddy who decided to come to Samhain last minute, last year, I used black hockey tape on all the hems to give it a crenellated trim. You couldn't tell until you got right up on it, and it held amazingly well.

Only reason I used the hockey tape instead of steam-a-seam is because I had it on hand and no spare cash to run out and buy the hem tape.

But don't be that guy, go with the hem tape.

* the tape. Iron that beast and stick it down with a few pins if necessary. That's how I remain looking good anyhow.

Double fold quilted bias tape. Put over the end of your fabric and sew.

Ended up going with Stitch Witchery on the sides, and sewing the rough contact areas... ie: bottom of pants.

Thanks a ton everyone.
