What do you mean? Cavalier as in French knight from the 16th C? Or French rifleman from the 17th C.? Or what?

Hmmmmm.

Well, mid-to-late 17th C. is pretty far afield from "Medieval". Warfare at that point was heavily determined by the use of cannon and artillery, not to mention the proliferation of personal firearms throughout the century.

I would, personally, advise against it as it is contrary to the spirit of this medieval game to portray a character from such a later period. If you desire something in the same vein costume-wise, I may recommend 16th or, better, 15th Century professional soldier or even a Landeschnekt.

Where as I completely disagree with Arrakis and think that if you can make a sweet military-esque medieval ensemble you should.

Take the best/your favorite elements in the cavalier design and incorporate them into a more medival type of outfit.

Plus, there are entire units of Pirates that are accepted in our game and their style primarily comes from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Whereas Acorn says that you should do exactly what you posted that you wanted to do except that you should do it "medieval" and "incorporate elements", which is to say, not make 17th C. Cavalier garb, but instead do something a little earlier but in the same vein, which is exactly what I said in the first place.

Acorn, why you gotta be a hater?

i'm not being a hater. I disagree with you.

I will not hijack this thread with an argument about semantics; suffice it to say that I do not read your post as encouraging him to make a hybrid design, but rather pointing him to a different time period.

my object was to show that we have pirates in our game (a later time period) and that there are multiple examples of hybrid/conglomerate/midieval-ized versions of garb already in Bel, so he can be creative in that vein.

I only referenced your post specifically to point out that I am on the opposite side as you and show the newbie that there are veteran fighters with differing opinions.

wasn't aimed at you negatively dude.
