After some serious bruises on my knees and shins I am looking for something like a shin guard combined with a knee pad. After some searching I found this:

Does anyone have any experience with wearing these types of motocross/bmx/paintball shin+knee protectors?

They aren't bad, but for the same cost, you could do them in leather and have actual armor.
