Help with heraldry... (Design)

Postby Teej » Fri Nov 09, 2012 4:42 pm

Somethings... off... it feels too cluttered, or something's too big... I can't pinpoint it. I'd appreciate help if you have any suggestions.

It's missing its nose when comparing it to your profile pic. I think it looks great though.

The both sides checkered makes it a bit busy. Thats jsut my opinion. And the nose hole.

Yeah, no clue why the nose got changed up - it was off at first but I hardly notice it these days. I should probably add that back in.

Maybe THAT's what is off to me... busy sides.

It definitely needs a nose, and the way that you did the cheeks is a bit different from your profile, you may want to make a version were the skull is identical to your profile and one that is this way, look at them side by side. You may like one over the other, and it will save you some headache.

If you are worried about busy, could you try stripes on the sides instead of checker stripes?

Yeah, the differentiation in the skulls is the result of me trying to separate two entities, but maintain some root symbolism.

Anastasia, I might have to take time to switch that over tonight and see what it looks like.

Try enlarging the circle so that it overlaps the checks a bit. I think that would look pretty badass.

From a design standpoint, Your checkers overwhelm the image, make them about 70% what they are, let the black grow some and youll see less "busy" to it. Also your skulls weight sits far too low on the cross. Line the eyes up in the middle perhaps, right now its mathematically centered im guessing but by no means is it visually center.

Do both of those and try again. hell if you want ill change it for you if you can send me the file.

Wasn't a fan of the solid color sides as earlier suggested. Appreciate the suggestion though.

*, that was the original design... it was hard on the eyes to me, and looked "modern." Dunno why it did, but that's just the way I perceived it.

*, PM me your email, I'll gladly send it over to you.
