Postby Rroki » Thu Jan 27, 2005 12:55 am

It's my bracer.. and I'm wondering, any tips on what I can do to make it look better at the wrist end? Right now there are just kinda three scales sittin there... I think my next project is a spaulder of the same scales.
(sorry about the picture size.)
Oh no. That's due today.

I've never worked with leather so I don't know how much this is worth but, what if you built the scales off some kind of wrist band? Like a thick leather biker bracelet.

I'm thinking of making some scale myself - how is your bracer closed? Is there lacing on the underside?

As for the cuff, I'd second the ide of putting in a loop of leather, if nothing else than just to cut down on bite from those gaps. You could also round off the ends of the last three scales, or make small scales to fill in/cover the gaps at the end and keep up the effect... .

Yeah it's laced, but the lacing is crap. I couldn't find places that were the same on either side for holes. Oh well, it stays on. That *gauntlet* thing sounds like a good idea, I think I'll do that.. And I think I'm gonna stick with the loop of leather thing there too, that's kinda what I was thinking. Thanks guys.

frickin awesome. i have always wanted to try scales, but now that i know what it looks like, i am a little less scared of doing it. Great job with keeping the whole thing togherther. Think about dying them next time.

Maybe put in one more scale, jutting out over the top of your hand. It'll put something in that space between the two at your wrist.
Otherwise, nice, very nice.

what if you did kind of a long glove/short gauntlet that tapered in to fit between those two scales and cover up the middle one? Maybe less of a glove than a cestus-type thing over the knuckles.

Otherwise, looks great.
