What are the criteria that a thread must meet to be locked?

Thank you for another well-informed and authoritative contribution to a discussion, Dagganoth. However, I think what you actually meant to say was "after I fill it up with so much crap it irritates the admins, or in some lucky cases before so, as a preventative measure."
If you don't have anything to say, that means you probably shouldn't say it.

That's the main reason that I've been locking threads recently. Other reasons are for excessive profanity, flaming, etc.

I propose the purpose of most threads in General Mayhem is to generate discussion with like-minded people (other Belegrim).
I further propose that it would be more efficient to let keyboard cowboys "hang themselves" by allowing them to flame a bit. Give them strikes and then ban them if they are breaking any rules.
Some of the threads that I see locked are still serving a purpose to Belegarth, even if it is not a purpose that I think is necessary. Since when do people have to stay on-topic in General Mayhem?

And speaking of that, where the **** are the rules, anyways? Did the War Council pass some web board rules a couple years ago? Or did they decide to vote them down later on?

Thou shalt not post flames, excessive profanities, or anything illegal.
Breaking these simple rules can get you banned.
Pay attention

Those aren't the rules. The rules are a little more specific than that.
Maybe you should pay more attention.
