The Terrible Realms Page

Let's face it's, the Realms page sucks. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been trying to get my information updated for over a year. Madog, since you took over for Winfang, I hope that it'll be easier to get some changes made to the page. Is the address webmaster@belegarth.com where I can contact you, as well? And would you entertain changes to the page to make it easier to navigate, such as a click-able map at the top?

Since I took over, it went from totally down to somewhat up. People can not submit to it. And I well know.

In my opponion I think we should temporarily use the old System. Elder "Voting" realms and Fledgling "Speaking" Realms. If you want on the list join WC. But right now I really just want to strangle our web-host for allowing the /VAR directory to fill up 2 times a week which leads to a break in all our technologies.

As for all the 100's of little groups out there, other systems can be incorporated to facilitate their demographics as well.

A system also should be created to clip groups that no longer exist.

Trust me, there is no more Wildwood, and if someone is interested Keichii should not be sought out.

I agree, the same is true with the Northlands..it no longer exists and Filth is retired. I do not know if Shrew (the one everyone tells to get into contact with) would mind he email on the site but I can ask.

It might even be useful to have a directory of fighters who are trying to get practices organized in specific areas, because I am sure people who are trying to start realms would like to be included in any future realm page.

I hate this idea. We do need to clean up inactive realms and dead contact information, but we need to list fighting realms that don't have speaking rights.

And everybody tell our host to stop being a *.

i think getting this page fixed should be a priority. People gots to find groups, and this is the #1 way they do it.

If "this" means the message board then you are correct. This is the #1 way people find groups.

Well I guess I could roll out the Kashmir carpet.

anyone want to venture on how long it takes to find the groups page and look for a group near you? I can do it in about 30 seconds. Though when I was looking up the cali groups I found over 80% of that information was wrong.

However, if I go to the forums I have to figure out if the new person forum is the right place to post, sign up for a forum that may spam me, write a post of where I am and how I'm looking for someone to contact and then wait forever for someone to reply if someone ever does read that post from the area I'm looking for.

The FORUM is the WORST way to spread information to new people.

Personally there should be some kind of intro page. at the bottom are the listing of links for those of us who want to see something right away. What the person first sees is many pictures and text asking if they are new to the sport or not. If Not the you get redirected to the intro page we have now, but the links are HUGE.

New people are shown a preview of what the sport has to offer (think porn site tour). Along the way it shows the person where to go to find the weapon building pages, how to start a realm, and everything else a new person is looking for.

Also like I posted in a different post :P The events page needs an overhaul.

If the site is ran off a server(access, mysql, mssql) Wouldn?t a submit to the server to a temp. pending approval table and then once a week have the staff check and approve or not work here? if that?s the way its done sorry for the post. Also if you did a realm leader sign in on the realm page they could update info. Approved afterwards of course.

I've been trying to update our chapter's for at least 2 years, probably 3 or better.

It's Barad-dur
Warrensburg MO
ucmbattle@yahoo.com
www.geocities.com/ucmbattle

I don't even care about the rest anymore, just get that much right.
Hell, I don't even live there anymore, or have the old contact address that's listed. When I did live there I had people show up thinking I'm a * for not writing them back.

Join the club Shadus. Orion and I don't live in San Diego anymore either, but our info change request didn't seem to be completed either.

I'm looking forward to our new host and hoping that as soon as we're hosted else where our realms page will become a much bigger priority. The best thing to turn someone off to something new is to give them bad information.
