It'll be down for a bit, the exact timeline is unknown, while I migrate it to a new server. Beyond this, there shouldn't be any other changes.

Also coming down the pipe line is the new new server I mentioned a month or so ago. This one is virtual, so please let me know if you encounter any sluggishness beyond what you'd normally expect.

Also, much further down is a new way to register realms. Right now I'm looking at an automated form that will automatically add you to the realm map and pop a starter page in the wiki. This will eliminate needing to wait for me to get around to adding realms manually.

I feel like I should be able to write that after the java class I just had....

Can you explain a virtual server? That's mind boggling, even if it's on the net, it's on a computer SOMEWHERE. And that makes it a real server......

Yeah, it is on a physical server. Basically, you take a very powerful server and have it run a bunch of smaller virtual servers. This allows for stuff like scalability, easy disaster recovery, cheaper cost and so on. Here's a nice diagram I shamelessly stole from a GIS:



So, yes, my virtual machine is running on a physical server somewhere (with lots of other VMs), but there's nothing to say that next time I reboot it it won't come online on a different physical server. Doesn't much matter, it's entirely seamless to everyone except the people who actually manage the virtualization.
