What's going on? This morning I couldn't get on the board for a few hours. I kept getting an error page. Same thing happened last week right before Chaos. Haven't heard anything about it yet and I'm curious

Yup, been having some swap thrashing issues on the server. I'm trying to track them down, but they keep popping up when I'm asleep and by the time I can investigate, it's too late to do anything except reboot.

Also traffic yesterday and today has been more than doubled compared to most days. My guess is people coming back from Chaos.

We run pretty close to the limits of my box at peak times, so it might be time to look into adding more memory.

Does that also explain why the View New Posts buttons and other search functions are working sporadically right now?

Yep. The view new posts function is obviously based on the general search function. Search is pretty resource intensive, so the board has a built in override that temporarily disables search if the load on the server is over a certain threshold.

I know it's been **** the past few days. I'm working on it.

Also, I know most of you are trying be helpful, but I get automatic SMS notifications whenever anything ****. I don't need wall posts, emails, IMs or anything else letting me know. I'm as on top of it as I can be.

yeah i was out for two DAYS waiting on the boards to fix them selfs it kept saying " Internet explorore (er what ever) cannot display the web page" or "the server is undergoing maintenence

Boards are way faster so far. I'll start messing around with the wiki tomorrow and see what I can scrounge up. So far so good though.

The IP address was on a policy blacklist for a number of dumb reasons. I've put in for delisting, so mail should start flowing normally in the next 12 hours or so.

Edit: Should be good to go now. If anyone else is having mail issues, let me know and I'll look in to your address specifically.

Thanks Derian. I've tossed in a white list filter too just in case something stupid like that happens again. All I know is I wasn't submitting the board emails as spam...LOL

Yeah, it's nothing you've done on your end. Many, many (most) email servers using something like SpamHaus, which is a major blacklist provider. We're running on a new server with a new IP address, and due to the fluid nature of cloud based VMs, they've classified all these blocks as dynamic addresses, which basically means they've decided there's no legitimate reason any of these servers should ever be sending email.

Fortunately, the process to get delisted is pretty smooth and quick.

Hey Derian, another minor Wiki problem I've noticed is that I'm unable to delete pictures. I'm trying to get rid of the ones that all the bots post, and it gives me an "Error deleting file: Could not create directory..." message. Appreciate it if you'd look into that. Thanks.

Luckily just being in one of those blocks doesn't count as a strike against you huh?

This is fixed, I also found an issue where thumbnails couldn't be created when uploading images. This has also been fixed.

It's the difference between refresh and force refresh. F5 does a refresh, CTRL+SHIFT+R forces the browser to drop the cache and pull things down again from the server.
