I would think either leave it at 100 or boost it up to 200 for people w/ lots of titles...I think 300 would be too much though.

I went for 100 just to keep Shatterhaze from putting his name and title in there. Of course then, you could probably do that with only 200 or 300 too

I think 200 would be really nice.....

I voted for 300, because I don't really care if people want to babble in their sig lines... but can you make it so they can't have big fonts in their signature?

I just thought that I would point out that in the character count it will count spaces as well.

In addition, depending on when the code does it's counting a carrigage return or a new line can be from two to four characters sometimes five, depending on how the code is written.

So if you have many cariage returns and spaces or tabs in your sig it will severely mess up the character count.

100 is more than enough

Most people's sigs are longer then their freakin posts.

They should be 200. I couldn't fit my name and one quote.

Ok, since over half the people voted they want more than 100 characters, but less than a quarter voted they want more than 200 characters, I am gonna allow up to 200 characters in a signature file. Not enough people voted for 300, so I think this is a good compromise between people who want short sigs and people who want long ones.

:wizzard:

I don't suppose there's already a way, or a way to arrange for there to be a way, to allow people to set their sig length max, or just squelch sigs?

what?

Wow, was that phrased terribly.

What I meant to ask is:
1) Is there a way to allow individual users to set the maximum viewed length of people's signatures, similar to the way that the Search can be set to have a maximum return length?
2) If not, is there a way that that can be implemented?

The answer to the first question is no, as far as I can tell.

I agree with Badger. A sig line shouldn't be longer than a post. It's annoying, to say the least.

I agree... If people really want to see titles, they can click on a link like Ohtar has for his sig line. I frequently read this board, but rarely post. The long titles are very annoying and a lot of scrolling (so I'm lazy). I mean, who really cares if I have a **** of titles and what do I care of everyone elses. 100 should be sufficient for a name and a title. Be witty with 100 characters...

Or type it out everytime you finish a post. Then, you can put all of your titles on there.

Should we make min. number of characters in a post?

Nah. I don't think it's necessary to set minimum characters for posts. Sometimes posts only require one word answers, such as "Nay" or "Yay".
