Unwritten rules (especially 'Taco Rule')

Postby Isk » Mon Oct 05, 2009 2:10 pm

Can we collect the unwritten rules and either add them to the BoW or disregard them?

I bring this up because I only just realized that the 'taco rule' isn't in the BoW. I like this rule and think it ought to be in the BoW, so why isn't it? How do we justify enforcing it at weapons check if it isn't in the BoW?

It really doesn't matter- each realm can run things as they like as well as event coordinators. only at NATIONAL events do ANY of the rules apply.

So all the other events are as set forth by who ever is running the event.

The Taco rule isn't in the book of war because it's VERY hard to quantify it. A certain angle? Measured from where? How? How much pressure it applied?

There's no way to write the rule that everyone will agree on. You just know it when you see it.

Arrakis just pointed out to me the rules do state a shield must be rigid and the 'taco rule' is just the way we test this. That works great for me. So I have edited and removed most of the questions in this post.

Still, though, please forgive my ignorance, but what defines a national event?

Rag is a Dagorhir event.

When used in Satanaka's context, a 'national' event is currently only Chaos War and Armageddon in that they're Belegarth's 'flagship' events and use the official Belegarth rules.

All other events are run by realms and can therefore make any rules modifications they wish. Almost all use stock Belegarth rules, however.

In general use, 'national events' usually refer to any established event that has attendance from several states and realms.

Hawaii: Manoa
Washington: Gondor

There are no staffs in Belegarth. Because of how they are constructed, they are really Pugil Sticks.
