If a fighter hits themselves accidentally with a weapon, is it a hit?

1.3. The target of an attack makes combat hit determinations.

3.2.1. Weapons which strike with sufficient force can score a hit and/or Injury to the Target Area.

So which of these is it?

I've always played that if you hit yourself hard enough it counts just like any other shot. Same thing goes if I'm able to power my opponents weapon into his/her body. So personally I go with the second if I hit myself. As for my other example I leave it up to the opponent to decide.

Barring the presence of something in the BoW that directly addresses the situation, those rules are not mutually exclusive and would both apply.

If you strike yourself, in whatever manner, with sufficient force, it counts as a hit. As the target of the attack, you also have the discretion to call it light, if the hit was light.

I actually managed to kill myself like this not too long ago..

Just like if you accidently hit a team mate in a team battle a hit on yourself should count..and then you can tell people how awesome you are!111
