does anybody out there have ANY ideas on how we could make the whole role play thing here a little less predictable. We need Ideas on how it could be a little more random. like adding player stats from level one, or by adding adjusted levels, for each thread. Also adding things like random counters for your character.

I just would like to see more random for everybody and less predictable. I see a lot of this, "an orc jumps out from behind a tree and I cut it's head off". There are more elements to it and I would like to see something else happen for a change.

One idea for unpredictablility would be to keep the teasing and the flaming down. Some people on this board aren't nice. The topic about my character in this forum had to get locked because the Horde decided to use my thread to throw insults at me. Oh, the nerve!

once again I'm not saying, that it should BE DnD. I would just like to have a little unpredictability, instead of the same narritive crap.

I used to Rp here, and it was all cool. But I have pretty much exhausted all idea on how to keep other characters guessing. Those who I rp'd with before know who I am, and all I can pretty much do in an rp is say, "I jumped out from behind a bush and ganked some dude in the throat.

I'm not the demanding type like that. I would rather have more of an appeal than anything.

I mean if everybody likes the idea that we can have unpredictable things happen, then that's when we could all sit down together and brian storm on how we would like it to work. Granted that it won't all be real time but we sure as hell could try and make something work.

Though I wouldn't be opposed to change, I personally like the narrative style. That was one of the big elements that first sucked me into the old Chaos Wars threads three years ago. Plus, die rolls are one of the single most intimidating things to someone who doesn't understand the concept of role playing.

Maybe the changes shouldn't be in the forum's structure, but more along the lines of how the threads should be handled. Give the people administrating the individual threads more power to randomize the events, so the characters have to "think on their feet," so to speak. When someone get's too big for his or her britches, check them.

Example:

Timmy the Paladin wants to kill the giant dragon that has kidnapped the rest of his party.

TIMMY: Wearing the Boots of Silence I bought in the last completed thread, I sneak under the dragon's belly and draw my sword to finish the beast off. Sliding the blade between the dragon's steel scales, I stab at it's heart, and when the beast cries in pain I bolt out from under it's belly to save myself.

DM: The dragon collapses in the direction you just ran.

TIMMY: I quickly dive out of the way.

DM: In plate armor? You're a freakin' paladin, dude. Your body is chest-down trapped under the dragon's carcass.


By the way, I know I haven't posted in an actual storyline for a while, so if this is already the way things are handled please tell me.

Anyway, dice rolling is not a problem, the problem is is that we need a method where we will not have to do things in reall time. That way if someone is gone for to days they can keep up.

This works... I like it alot.

It does...BUT! It doesn't work, because we have more than one person per thread. Like I said before, we can't do the real time rp just because not everyone can respond every second or every day. We also have different ppl in different places.

This will be the biggest hurtle to get over as to getting this started.

Possibly imply a 24 hours reply standard. Converstation could go 3+ posts an hour but anything that directly influences others more than the two posting alot in the couple of minutes would need to wait for 24 hours.

if were really able to pay attention, I say 7 at the most. Also if you are already in one that requirs a DM, then you can't be another one that has another DM.
