RP event? As in, a DM sets up a battle plan of some sort? I can roll with that.

I think that we should have a castle siege. I don't know who has the money or the place to set something like that up though.

I notice that some of you don't really understand what an RP Event is.

Though the idea of a castle seige would be cool. I have designed a portable fort (8 foot cube) that has two stories if set up correctly (then it is 12' high).

Just make sure Andrek doesn't set it up or you will find you are only an inch off the ground.

We should find a time when a couple hundred people can get together, seize control of a big playing area, and fight a campaign with a couple different units for each side.

Heralds could command each unit, and follow them around as ghosts if they died, or we could just have a neutral herald every three hundred feet or so...
The field of crows, wherein there is endless battle and no meaning, where death is reversible and life worthless. That is Battlegaurd.

we'd need to find a cool way to employ magic. And there'd have to be no dice and "+5 AC Hide of Great Coolness". Just belegarth with some magic and a cool story. Oh yeah, and siege weapons. And did I say cool magic?
So yeah, let's do this sometime...soon

There has been an easy form of Magic layed out in the DM forum. It has been in my brain for years as I hate many rules.

Very simple and fun stuff... we will lay it out as we get closer to having an event.

I had an idea for a spell I'd like to share. We could have rocks count as "fireballs" and have them count as damage to any unarmored portion of the body or head. Hits to a helm or any other armored portion of the body doesn't count. Shields will block hits from them as well.

Good idea?

not really. no offense but think about it, fireballs tend to be quite large and hot (no kidding). Fireball also tends to be a somewhat higher level spell and therefore is a good deal more powerful. Think of it this way, if you got hit with a ball of fire on your armored head, do you really think you could still move let alone fight, or even if it was your arm or something, would you still be able to use it if it was severly burned. I dunno, this is just what I think basing it on past experiences.

This idea is just for Level 1 fireballs. Level 2 can go through armor and level 3 can break shields similar to how a red weapon does. We could have different colors for the different levels. Like level 1=blue, level 2=red, level 3=orange. Would this cause too much confusion?

an interesting idea. However, I would propose, for the sake of ease and playability, that there be only one level ever. Everyone and anyone can cast whatever the hell they want so long as they can remember the incantation and they have sufficient spell components (i.e. colored foam rocks, etc.). IMO this would make things a lot more streamlined and easy.

There was talk of Fireball (class 2 red color), Iceball (Class1 blue color), and Slimeball (class 5 yellow color).

Though Black you are on the right track. I thought about stuff like that before I simplified... aka 5 years ago when I thought, "It would be cool if..." The ideas are great, but we need to keep it simple enough that those who just show up can play without reading all the ruleset.

Oh and magic users would be allowed Modified Archer Hearldry for the event (aka allowed to tell the target what hit them and where it did... Nerf Balls can be hard to feel).

We could have all of the fireballs casted in the event count as arrows for hit-taking. That should be simple enough to play out.

Yes, just like the archers do. They still won't be able to call shots when they use other weapons they may be carrying, such as melee weapons or javelins, though.
