People have a problem with Celts?

Postby Argyll » Mon Mar 05, 2007 6:17 pm

I was browsing these boards, and it seems like there is some taboo to being a Celt in this game, as their is with elves, vampires, etc.

I understand elves and vampires, it's mostly to do with who plays those charcter types, and how terribly they fall short of living up to the mastery that those roles demand (i.e. immortality, magic, uncanny agility etc.)

but celts? What's wrong with being a Celt? It's a historical group of people that in no way is anything less thand bad-ass. They ritually decaptiated people and made trophies out of skulls, they worshipped cool gods, had unique garb, invented chainmail etc.

I don't see how being a historical celt is anything different than a Viking or a Roman.

Whatabout the hippy-skirt contingent? Why not mock them. Shakira is not period, and they should be harassed for dressing like her.

There's some really awesome Celts in this game (Finn, Fergus, B.A.M., etc.) , and I don't understand where the disrespect came from.

I'd venture a guess that many of the celts out there don't play the part very well. Those three you mentioned, two of whom I know fairly well, are awesome celts.

Or maybe it is because they tend to lack certain desirable personality traits, and sometimes be total * :) (fergus comes to mind)

Anyway, long story short, you and your unit seem pretty dedicated to being true clets, so get out there, do some rampaging, and you'll be fine. I've seen many people wear a kilt, call themselves a celt, and then don't play the character, which is probably where the stigma comes from.

Hell, hardly anyone that doesn't play an elf thinks very highly of elves, but many still play them, do what you want, have fun, make it believable, no problem :)

Most of the Mountain Clansmen so far are celt for real. i'm 75% celt, i'm short and lean however due to the native Briton in me. I don't have a persona yet and can't decide on a race.

bubble bubble toil and trouble fire burn and thread zombie stumble! back to life i say hahahahaha!

also i think more the reason of celts having a problem is alot of people come out and be celts and act bad * then suck hardcore as fighters its not the persona itself its the **** talking then the absolutely terrible fighting skill that gives celts their bad rep

i command this thread to live in a dreadful limbo of hate mwhahahaha
