Hi all,

This is the official thread of play for the third game of Belegarth Mafia. Please, if you are not playing, do not post in this thread. Start another thread to ask your question, or send me a private message. If you are not in the game and you post in this thread, I will delete your post without reply. Not trying to be rude, but the game has to be kept separate.

Players, please read all of the rules carefully. These will be enforced to keep the game fun and fair for everyone. Please don't make me call you dead for breaking the rules . . . and remember, don't edit your posts! Ever!

I'm a bit tired of the beat on the Iron Crown guys game theme, so this time, we're going to have a Pirates vs. Ninjas theme. The sneaky, subtle ninjas have infiltrated the pirates' ship (yarrr) and are attempting to take over by killing the crew one at a time. In an effort to combat this evil threat, our bold and daring pirates argue among themselves as to who will walk the plank!

Dagganoth(Ninja/Mafia goon)--Survived.
Big Jimmy(Super extra awesome Ninja/Mafia roleblocker)--Survived.

Dead: 7

Outhro Youkker(Smart Pirate/Cop)--Walked the plank, day 1
Juicer(Pirate/Townie)--Murdered by loathsome ninjas, night 1
Farrin(Pirate/Townie)--Walked the plank, day 2
Zwei ap Owen(Ship's Doctor)--Mudered by loathsome ninjas, night 2
Mekoot Gorlock(Pirate/Townie)--Walked the plank, day 3.
Olos(Pirate/Townie)--Murdered in endgame.
Giggles(Pirate/Townie)--Murdered in endgame.

Game is over, Ninjas (Mafia) Win!

Game format:

This game is what is referred to as "F11" format. There are 9 players, two mafia and 7 town. One of the following setups, randomly determined, will be used:

* 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 1 Doctor, 5 Townies.
* 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 6 Townies.
* 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Doctor, 6 Townies.
* 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 7 Townies.

You should recieve your role messages within the next few hours.

The game will start on day 1, so there will be a lynch before any night activities occur.

Role overview:

Mafia goon--A ninja!

Mafia roleblocker--A super extra awesome ninja! He may secretly follow one other crewmember around at night, and foil any attempts that they make to learn information or protect their crewmembers.

At night, the mafia may talk privately amongst themselves in any fashion they like (Only at night! No private conversations during the day, please!). Once per night, they, as a group, select one of the townies (pirates . . . yarr) to kill. That person dies in the morning.

Cop--The smart pirate. Maybe the captain, maybe the first mate, maybe just the poor sodomized cabin boy who turns out to have a brain as large as his *. He may follow one other crew member each night, and by morning, has figured out whether they are a ninja or an honest pirate. Any knowledge gained this way is guaranteed to be accurate.

Doctor--The ship's surgeon. He may guard one other crew member at night. If the ninjas attack that person, then he valiantly rushes to the rescue and saves his wounded fellow from otherwise certain death. He may also hunker in his private cabin with the door locked and protect himself like a true coward.

Townies--The rest of you stinking, barnacled, one-legged seadogs. Avast mateys, tharr be rum.

You may vote at any time during the day, and your vote will continue to count until you unvote. Votes and unvotes in any other format will not be counted. Sorry, but I can't go digging to find them. Make them obvious for me.

[02] Please be attentive and unvote, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I'd appreciate it. Please just stick an unvote in the line above your new vote.

[03] Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, their pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. Feel free to post in twilight, though. Once I post a death scene, night has begun, and I will lock the thread. I will reopen the thread when I post the information for the next day, in about 2-3 real life days.

[04] You may vote: no lynch. Majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death. This is very rarely an advantageous decision--you're pirates, and not prone to such lily-livered inaction!

[05] If a deadline is reached with no majority, the day will end without a lynch. I don't want to set a deadline, but if I have to, aka, if people or stalling or the game is not progressing, I will.

[06] The game is not to be discussed outside the thread. Please do not talk about, send private messages about, anything about this thread outside of it IF you are a player. Anyone else can feel free to comment as they like, just please stay out of the play thread. The only exception to this rule is that mafia members may talk to each other as much as they like in private, but ONLY during the night. If you violate this rule, then you are cheating, and if I find out, I will remove you from the game.

[07] When I set a day deadline, the deadline lasts until I actually lock the thread.

[08] Once your death scene has been posted, you're dead. Stop typing. Not even a "Bah!" post, please. Save it for after the game is over.

[09] No small or invisible text. Don't edit/delete previously submitted posts either. If you edit or delete your own or anyone else's (if you're a mod) post, you have cheated, and I will remove you from the game.

[10] Don't quote any PMs from me in the game thread. This is cheating, and if you do, I will remove you from the game.

[11] If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you--if you do not submit a choice to me, I'll make it for you and you won't like it.

[12] If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Be considerate, please don't leave us hanging.

[13] I am always right, but not always accurate. If I've made a mistake, please tell my by private message as soon as possible. Please do not do so in thread. I probably won't remove you from the game for doing so, but I wouldn't risk it, either.

[14] If you have any questions at all, please email me (bamudd@wustl.edu) or post the question in the thread. Try not to use PM's, because we have limited inbox space.

[15] Remember, it's a game and it's supposed to be fun. Be nice to your fellow players and your mod. I have zero tolerance for abusive posts.

As the good ship Excelsior (that's ek-thel-thee-or, with a manly limp-wristed twirl) sets sail from Barbados to pillage merchant and man o'war alike, none suspect the dark enemy hiding among the very crew of the ship . . . until the captain is found murdered by the first mate, a ninja's throwing star buried deep in his throat.

Day 1

The game begins with day phase. The presence of the ninjas has been revealed . . . but not their identities. You must decide who is a ninja, and who will walk the plank into the shark infested waters below!

With 9 alive, it's 5 to lynch.

As the Goblin Chef on the pirate crew Black Corsairs of Umbar.... I expected the misshap with last nights soup would have killed someone... luckly a few drunks tossed my cauldron and hit a dolhfin in the head.
Anybody want another Flipper-ka-bob?

I dont expect green to be ninjas, so I expect a pinky that caused this.

In defense of the drunks, that dolphin was looking at us funny...

But I shall point the first drunken finger of suspicion at Goblin Chef Outhro. First of all, Outhro admitted to expecting a soup mishap. Perhaps poison! Secondly, for the more scholarly amongst us, it well known that the legendary traitor Long John Silver planned a mutiny whilst under the guise of being the ship quartermaster which is ninja-code for Goblin Chef!

Aye! At first it seems Bilge Wench Giggles be havin' a good argument, no qualms ta' that. But I ask ye, what self-respectin' buccaneer would use such a high-falutin' vocabulary? 'Mishap,' 'check mate,' and 'scholarly amongst us,' indeed! Here's a poor excuse for play actin' if ever i' twas seen. I say we scupper this lyin' ninja traitor, and leave him to the sharks to sort out!

(And yeah, Pirate talk? Only going to last so long)

I cant rant in pirate, it wil make my brain melt and the rest f the day will be stuck talking gibberish.
The misshap in the soup was the bean I put in there. Plus I dont know why someone gave me a few pound of coffee beans anyways.

And why would Ninjas be here? They already walk on water, they dont need a boat. Why do we make walk the plank to some thing that always floats? Plus they escape artists, how you tie them up the a cannon and sink them to davye jones's locker?
Captain is dead...but this prooves that it takes atleast 2 ninjas to kill a Pirate.

Aye, perhaps that be true... but if ninjas dinnae speak, why is Gunnery Chief Gorlock so ready to cast overboard mates Farrin and Olos wi'tout their bein' heard? If they be ninjas, and as ye say nay be terrible loquacious, then he'd have no reason to fear what they'd nay be loquatin'! Jimmy be the first one to put me name up. why he be protectin thems what not spoke yet? He may no be a ninja, but if he be on their side he might be a buttpirate. That be as bad as a ninja.
