heres my character (told in first person) please tell me anything i can improve on so it's not picked apart in 2 seconds.

my name is Bealcrest (or as most other troops call me "the jester")
my race is human
my hight is 6 ft 1 in
my favorite fighting style is anything other than a spear and 2 hand weapons
social class (before i was forced to fight) the kings court jester
my back story is I started out as a lowly court jester but one day the king was running out of troops so he started sending out every one into battle servants cooks slaves and of course he eventually got to me and i was one of the few survivors of that era and the king made me keep fighting for him because of my "bravery" (even though i just ran hid and picked up weapons every time i got one knocked out of my hand but what he doesn't know wont hurt him) however when i fight i always wear my old jester hat and mask (i modified the mask with a metal plate in back) just to remember that time before i was forced to fight and eventually willingly fought.

Yeah, Jester. You need some motivation. Where do you want to go in life? Maybe turn maverick and leave your king's service? Perhaps pull a Merlin and magic your way out of there? Maybe you'll become the consummate soldier-an iceman on the field; a cold, calculated killer. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Maybe years of fighting against your will have left you cunning like a viper, or perhaps all that running you did left you swift like a mustang, able to run from sun-up to sundown. What did your character accomplish in his years at war? Did he slay any great cats, like a cougar? Or maybe some mythical creatures...like a wolfman! These are the things you need to flesh out, so maybe one day, you'll have a character worthy of hollywood.

While you're thinking about all this, keep an upbeat, chipper attitude. Once you've got it all together, slide 'er back into this thread so we can look it over. We might throw some stingers your way, but it'll only help you improve. Try to make the story fantastic, yet believable. Maybe you slew a dragon while on a highway in a dangerous zone, but you're not also a voodoo shaman, you know? Good luck!

...

Ghostrider.

Baelcrest the "Brave" is quite a knave
Ran from the battle and from the grave
A jester's jest he surely gave
When the fighting's fierce he drops his glaive
Runs fast as a hare, from hither and there
Away from the battle, a cowardly mare
Oh Jester! You pester and sequester
Our laughs, you're a jolly old joke
And a poke you provoke
Then run like a wee little girl sore afraid
A warrior not the act you portrayed
Deserter Beserker, you smirker and say
"Why fight to the death, when I'll just run away?"

...no.

1. get a dictionary, and look up the word, jester.
2. go to the belegarth wiki "people" and look for skittles.
3. next time they suround king man, to make him do dances and tricks, jump infront of da king man.

I will totally support your character.... but with a few conditions: 1) jester-ish garb and intimidating yet harlequin-esque face-paint that in no way resembles that of ICP. 2) You use a slightly comical, slapstick fighting style in order to confuse and misdirect your opponents. 3) You learn how to prat-fall 4) You use rocks that are shaped like either pies or rubber chickens...

That is all.

EDIT: This is -of course- based on the assumption that this character is your Belegarth persona, and not just a pen and paper character. If the former, my conditions have already been stated. If the latter, please disregard my post.

Gámhain, you seem to have a thing for responding to threads that are months old. While your post is reasonably constructive, fact is that the original poster has probably already made a decision about his post and you're a bit late.

Just a friendly heads-up. Most of the board trolls don't check this forum, so you're safe there. But in the future just make sure to check the date of the last post before responding, okay?

Court jesters are usually looked upon as fools and dumb@%$# so i suggest looking for a different candidate, perhaps a gladiator? or a apprentice blacksmith? :armor4:

Lol. I tried to choose "it's okay" and the server returned the error message saying my selection was invalid.

My fighting name is taken from a character of mine from a text RP. However, if I were to play in-character, I would have to start killing everyone with a rune on their weapons or armor first, throw them off the edge of the world, and then worry about the scenario battle we were playing. Might not go over so well. So I'm pretending to be someone, who is pretending to be someone else, and that justifies me acting as if I'm not any particular character at all.
So basically, Bel is pure sport for me. :D I don't hunt Reds on the field because of my character- I do it because I enjoy running off with them after arming the rightful owner.

If your description was the entire character, yes it'd be lacking. I always go with the tip-of-the-iceburg approach to profiles, generally stopping my description after detailing that which would be obvious to other characters. I give nothing on background or motives until it comes out in the plot. So, as far as I know, there's nothing wrong w/ your character.

...and I wouldn't claim he could run as fast as a horse, unless you yourself can match the feat on the field.

jesters are obviously men who cannot fight for ****, i suggest immediately ditching the concept and getting back to the drawing board...NOW :exclaimation: :exclaimation: :exclaimation:
