Drow elves were surface elves at one time, but they were evil and corrupt, so a war broke out between the good and the evil. The good chased the evil down into the earth where the evil set up what would be their civilization. Their skin turned black due to lack of sun, to adapt to the lightless world of the Underdark, and as symbolism of their corruption and devotion to Lolth.
If you're not gonna go all out, don't go drow. The body's gotta be black, you've got to be cool, calculating, and malicious. Taunting your opponent, disabling them before you kill them, stuff like that is a nice touch to complete your character. And drow favor two-weapon fighting, specifically longsword-longsword, and longsword-shortsword.
