Best Way to block flail shots...

Postby Digoza » Wed Mar 15, 2006 12:42 am

Is there a best way to block flail shots?

I seem to do ok against flail users, but some tips would still be nice.

if you use a strap do what dubuenzo said it will work if you keep at it long enough. if you use a punch either keep it close to your body and do the same or put the point of your fist inside the shield right at the tip of the flail shaft.

yeah always block the head of the flail, otherwise it will wrap increasing your chances of you getting hit

One thing that might work would be as follows:

Turn the non-striking side(or the widest side of the weapon), up into the air.

Push the widest side of the weapon up, towards the chain of the flail.
-Reason: The flail head cant wrap around the flat side of a sword, very well.

This will cause the head to try and wrap around the flat side of the weapon, and since chains are not over 6", the probability of the flail head fully wrapping around the weapon and hitting you are slimmed drastically, depending on the width of this weapon.

You can then push the flail back, or grab onto it, and try and rip it out of the user's hands.

I usually aim to put my blocking weapon into the chain of the flail and make sure it's far enough away from my body so I don't get hit by the wrap of it. This way there is a chance their flail will become entangled on your sword and you can yank it free from them.

with a stap alls you have to do it hold out your sheild away from your bodys and slighty pivot a little more....with a punch...dont hold it close to your body thats retarded..you will get hit if you do that.....just hold it out punch at the flail pretty much....with your sword arm alls you do is punch block and rotate your wrist out so if the saft hits ur hand the ball still hits you hand as well....my spelling sucks...

It's pretty hard to accurately block a cheese flail with a weapon though. Unfortunately most of the flails I fight against can be swung faster than most swords.
