Here's an Amtgard SKBC video regarding some small-unit tactics. It's got some good information there, especially when they talk about their planning and how it can change very quickly.

P.S. The video is 16 minutes long. Stick around after the credits...

P.P.S. If anyone is interested the SKBC (Sword Knight Boot Camp) is tentatively scheduled to be held in Cedar Rapids, IA in 2007. I'm not sure if the dates will conflict with Spring War, but if you look at the course notes, it's definitely worth checking out.

we should have a belegarth version of this, that'd be awesome. Somebody should tell em to get some better music. I mean the beginning and the very end were good, but I almost couldn't watch the whole thing cause of the techno pop music. Gave me a * headache.

really good tactics, the best way to stop flankers I've found is to have two guys behind the line to either prevent flanking, plug up a gap, or move in to flank the other team.

I have a question:

Why do flankers usually move in on the right?

Because people are more comfortable exposing the side they mainly defend with to incoming threats; since most people are right-handed, that means they'll leave the left side closer to the enemy.

Left-handed flankers make us "normals" nervous... :)

I love being switch handed. It's the total roxorz. But yeah, if you're a flanker, I suggest developing this as a skill. You can totally mess some people up if can up against in a fashion they seldom know how to combat.
