Remembering The 11th of September

Postby Ikeno_Dathorion » Mon Sep 11, 2006 8:11 pm

As we all know 5 years ago a tragic incident occured in our great nation. The world trade towers were struck by two planes. The pentagon was attacked. and a plane crashed in pennsylvania. The one whom sought to destroy us is yet on the run. but, with all this said, If you know anyone whom had died or helped america in this dark hour please tell them that you are greatful for their duties, or rember the lost loved ones. So, lets remember those whom we lost in this dark hour.

I know I am going to sound horribly insensitive..and I apologize. This is just my two cents on the matter and if you don't want to read someones opinion (not political but on the nature of terrorism and violence) then do not read what is below this line.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can not declare war on violence. Terrorism in its very nature is violence. You can not terrorize people without violent actions. You can not use violence to end violence. (Name one war that has ended all other wars in the region/disputes regarding whatever triggered the war)

The only way to truly remember those who have died in Iraq, those who have died in Afghanistan(Sorry for the mispelling can't find a dictionary on this comp) and in Sept 11th is simply this..

Refuse to be terrorized.

That said should we remember everyone who has died? Hell yes. Yet it is a paper thin line between remembering them, and being terrorized by an event.

We all participate in a violent sport, sure. As a country we have several national hero's who are heroic because of violent sports. You can't even turn on tv and no see violence, but terrorism is without question the best time to use nonviolence. The purpose of terrorism is even in its name. To cause terror. How do you fight terror? Easy. Refuse to be frightened.

Georghiu Leonte,
Heh, interesting take but...
That wasn't insensitive at all :)
Actually, George W's speech that he gave two days ago said something very similar about the key to "winning" the "war on terror"

Winning the "war on terror" would require basically nuking the entire middle east.

And even if we did that, there would be enough in other countries, and we would have made a lot more enemies....

it's like winning the "war on drugs"

not gonna happen. period.
