Yes thats right! a 5 day event held in ky at the barren river state park!

there will be woods battles, viking and celtic games and music, plus merchants galore!

On Sat we will be having a full 7 course feast and of course wherever we are there will be tons of MEAD!!!!

Pre reg is only 15 for adults, 10 for minors, and free for small ones (7 and under)

Just some of the things we have made ready for this event:

Highland Wreslting

Highland strong man competition

Mead brewing contest

tournanments galore

The feast is a 7 remove with it brought to your table plus the lost souls tavern will be open for business throughout the week selling inexpensive but good food

Dont know what MEAD is????

Mead is a viking drink similar to a honey wine. Ask Shrat and some others that have drank our mead at Beltaine and Mel about what it is like

google is my friend, it tells me that this magical event will occur at Barren River State Park in Kentucky. Hmmm, maybe that information could be included in the main post on this event, or links to maps or directions could be added.

[mild sarcasm] Nah, that would be too easy. Everyone knows where Barren River is, who (other than Thorin) is hosting it... [/mild sarcasm] But at least the When, What and Why parts of the question are largely covered.

Actually, the whole discussion of mead brings up something I read long ago. In the original Warcraft 2 (yes, Warcraft 2. As in, a game of quality.) booklet, it described ogres as enjoying mutton and mead made from human blood. That has kinda stuck in my mind for all these years. How in hell do you make mead out of human blood? Just doesn't work . . .

Well things are underway for what is looking like a awesome event!!!

We have a long time veteran of SCA doing a fully period feast!
It is set in stone that we have Mad Max Mcdougald to come and run Highland wrestling at the event plus Scottish strongmen competitors to run a amatuer highland games as well.

Land Grab will be on thursday and the event will be going non stop till monday afternoon.

Due to the style of feast we are holding we will be having to raise the price of the event. Pre reg from now till aug is still only $10 !!!
From aug to sept it will be 15 and 20 at the gate.

Day trip it is 10 for sat (that does not include feast)

Hope to have a very large turnout for this VERY period style event!

SITE CHANGE!!!!
Due to Barren River Park now being more about business than anything else we have moved parks.
The event will now be at KOA Campgrounds in Bowling Green KY.
Jessina is scanning the map to it now to post.
This will make it a good bit closer for the southerners and just easier to find overall. While we lost having a woods battles this year

we will behaving a great event nonetheless. So come one come all to the Viking Homecoming!

Feast is already filling up so pre reg today!

I've already started preperations for my appearance in KY.

Walking the dog everyday, taking multivitamins, drinking more water and excercizing regularly. On Sunday I'll be getting back into fighting and joining the local group here in boulder/loveland, CO. I hope, depends on if I have transportation and what not. OOooo...I need a weapon and some garb too.

This looks rad--but i had no idea it was going to happen! In other words you should DEFINITELY put at least a heads-up in General Mayhem. Cause honestly, Upcoming events is not the most frequented forum.

Can someone tell us a little bit about the site? Is it all primitive camping? Is there a bathhouse? How bout a hall type building with electricity for nighttime activities? Are cooking fires permitted? Is the main feast the sole meal provided? Is running water available? How far is the site to the nearest grocery/Wal-Mart or whatever? Details details!

I don't know the site and I would probably be the most likely person to update everyone on the subject seeing as how I have nothing better to do than to keep tabs on my friends through the internet. So Unfortunately, you're plum outta luck. Your best bet would be to prepare for raw camping and go from there.
