Summer War 2008: July 31st- August 3rd

Mark your calendars. Summer War is July 31st through August 3rd, 2008, at Yankee Springs Recreation Area in Middleville, MI. The site has been confirmed at the Long Lake area (same one as 2004). Dude, I think Elwrath and Co set a record with a 27 hour drive and a car accident for the Single Day Wolfpack Opener. And you have the dudes flyin all the way from Puerto Rico for Spring Wars. And lets not for get Thunder Guard driving 18 hours into another country for Okfest '08. No one else is ever allowed to complain about a "long drive" for an event. Ever.

Please note this is not a "mean" post, just me being me, which could be construed as mean I suppose...

Lynard, it's worth the drive. I understand you're a little spoiled, being so close to most events, but this is one of the ones out of state that you SHOULD want to spend extended amounts of time in a car for.

Summer War has historically been a smaller event, it was just getting out of diapers when we stopped hosting it due to retirement in the Northlands. But, what you're getting now are all the people who love and cherish our home realm and want to bring back what was and will be one of the best weekends of your life.

Forget sunstroke. Forget drama. Forget all those little things about events that make them slightly less fun.

Western Michigan at the end of July is pleasantly warm, while still breezy enough to keep the bad heat at bay. ALL of the cabins are shaded with electricity, so heading back to your bunk to catch a cat nap between the AMAZING fighting and the feast I can't describe in words, is a god-send while that final dip in the clean and beautiful lake is just heaven.

This site, and this event, lacks a clear amount of drama and turdery. Perhaps it's the drive for some, perhaps the location in general, but the people who would cause problems don't show. (don't take this as an invite to come and try to crash the event anyone. You won't be happy with the results).

Summer Wars returning is like the sun coming out again after a long week of rain. It's happiness, condensed and packaged in an event form with REALLY great food.

If this post hasn't sold anyone to go, I don't think I care that you do or not. I'll just have a blast without you, and let you know when I get back how awesome.

Sorry my replies have been few and far between. Thanks everyone. I will be opening prereg very soon. Please remember, it will be first come, first serve for the cabins at the event. If a cabin isn't filled by the first day of the event, someone will be placed in your cabin so everyone can have a good place to sleep. It will be amazing.

Update: For those of you who haven't been checking the site, I have a prof. drummer coming for the weekend. Ladies, be sure to bring your dancing outfits!
