There will be no limits on the number of people who can sign up for tournaments. There will be no limits on the number of tournaments you can sign up for. Brackets are on the sign up sheet, so this isn't really difficult to run. A time is also on the bracket, so we put up the clock and get people to be in charge of getting to their own matches. If we stagger the times, it should help to eliminate people getting two matches at the same time.

I think there will always be a little confusion with tournies held at the same time as field battles, however, if we let people hearld their own matches (best 2/3). Then the number of people required to run the tourny goes down. If a pair believes a hearld is needed, we can provide one for that match. They can ask for a herald and a new set of 3, if they thought the last set did not go well.

As for prizes, obviously I'm the donor. There will be few costs to the club, I will only seek materials money if we clear for food and other items. I am hoping to do a raffle on one really awesome prize to help us get $ back, as well as tokens to commemorate the event. I believe there should be no mandatory fees. Donors can support us through the purchase of raffle tickets and tokens. Also, you or Doc should submit a budget to the school for the event.

I can explain more of my philosophy regarding the tournies in a PM, if you like.

Ana, may I propose a weapon building contest as well? A weapon show off if you will.

If you arrange for some impartial judges I'll provide prizes for the winners.

Halbrust, I think that's a wonderful idea. What catagories are you thinking of? Polearms, Swords, Unique Weaponry? I can set this up as well, tell me your ideas.

Come on guys, this is not your private forum. It sound like you have a lot of issues to work out but you should be doing it in person or on PM. Show some consideration for the moderators who have to sift through all of this.

You should edit your first post and add in that info so we don't have to scroll down to read it (lazy)

Also this is kinda far drive from us up in Oregon and Washington for a one day event, any crash space being provided by anyone? just curious

Hey, Attendance RSVPs so far are scaring the hell out of me (40 confirmed, 130 maybes!!!) and that's before anyone from my realm, Andor, Hakaturi, OC Fighters Guild, and at least half of Aggelgorod have RSVP'd. I expect that 100 is a definite for this event and that more is probable. However, I can only pay for free food for 100 people. So, the first 100 people who RSVP "YES" will be guaranteed free food. After that you are getting Pizza from Dominos, which is not as nice as the free delicious feast I am getting :) Please, start your RSVPs on Facebook now!!! OR RSVP here now!

http://www.facebook.com/#/event.php?eid ... 691&ref=ts

PS: DONATIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED. PAYING FOR YOUR FOOD RAISES MONEY FOR OUR FREE EVENTS AND CLUB. WE NEVER CHARGE YOU MANDATORY FEES, BUT YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks,

Maybe we can award prizes like this at feast...right now we have RSVPs for between 100-200 people, so we are mostly trying to figure out how the hell we are pulling this off with regard to themed battles and tournaments. As for things that can be added in at feast time (such as best garb, weapon, armor) this will likely be decided at the week leading up to the event (as we figure out what money we have left for prizes and what time we have left to make prizes). For sure, if anyone wants to sponsor a prize, they are welcome to do it. Feast is several hours of socializing after the fighting, so we can do some things with that time. I do intend to make prizes for that sort of stuff, but we will have to see how my break goes. I can't wait to see how many people show up!

Just confirmed with Aggelgorod that they're going to make this into a Battle weekend. On Sunday they'll throw a battle at Crescenta Valley Park to the north side of LA (perfect for those of us heading north afterwards.

Here's a link to their events page -a map and directions are in the first listing (ignore the dates, they've still got the '09 schedule up): http://www.aggelgorod.com/events.html

So come to the Battle of the Ring on Saturday and make a weekend of it by fighting with Aggelgorod on Sunday! Mallenorod is bringing a dozen, so this will be a great time to meet and beat on California fighters.

Oh, and I'll be bringing down some arrowhead and shortsword kits from this site drop me a line or let me know if you're interested.

Andor will be in attendance with about 16 fighters total. 7 of those will be from our neighboring group the Blackwater Legion who came with us last year.

We are all really looking forward to this event.

****!!!!! I have to work tomorrow!

I'm hoping I can get out of here at 11:00 instead of 1:00 though.

Anna, or Sal, or whoever else has authority: Can I get pre-signed up for the sword and board and archery tourney? I hope to get there around noon, but I'd hate to miss out on the tourneys becuase San Bernardino County needs their bills paid. I'll be there just after 2:00 at the latest, but it says there is a 1:00 deadline to sign up.

I'll be there just after 2:00 at the latest, but it says there is a 1:00 deadline to sign up.

Hey Halbrust - I'll see if I can sign you up, just don't shoot me with those pretty pink arrows (I'm going for the archery tourney also).

Oh, and the name to put on that paycheck is: "Kyrax the Mad, SSN 099-23-0012"

Thanks to everyone who came out to our event. 139 people this year! up from 80 at our first event last year. Also, Brian, my bf, proposed to me, so now we are engaged. Thanks to all who shared our happy moment.

Peace,
AoC

PS: My engagement ring is Lady Galadriel's Elven Ring of Power Nenya. So yeah...think about that, and try not to die of jealousy. Also, please decide if you are fighting for the bride or groom at our Bel wedding, an event so awesome-surely only the apocalypse can follow it.

This was a really awesome event. It was well run and a lot of fun. The San Diego groups (Andor and Blackwater) all had a great time and are eager to see your next event.

Thank you for all of your hard work. And congratulations to the happy couple!

Check out our album as a slideshow http://hakuturiclan.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=7893650

My Camera died half way through the day because I forgot to charge it, or there would have been waaaaaaaaay more pictures. Logan is trying to email me the stuff he took on his phone so I can add it to the album

Nice pics. You guys look like everyone had a blast, the weather was great and a high attendance. Looks like there were quite a bit of females fighting too, so good on ya'll. Wish I could have been there.

In particular, I like the giant war hammer that I saw in this picture:
Image

I'd like to know what he used as the core and how he keeps the head from detaching from the haft and spinning around?

I would wager to guess its a block of yellow couch cushion foam with a single layer of blue camp pad either DAP'ed or taped to all six sides for some firmness?

I'm pretty certain the hammer in that picture was one of the loaners UCI had on hand. I didn't get a chance to wield it, so I couldn't tell you what it was made from.

I believe that hammer in the picture is from the Dagorhir group from Sunnyvale. Kyrax is a member of that realm, so you can ask him about the hammer.

I would like to thank Anduril and everyone who helped out at the event for making it such an awesome day. Everyone from Salamandastron had a blast.

Dyre is right - the Hammer is Rau's (he's the guy watching it being checked in the center, wearing a blue and green tabard).

From Left to Right, Tati (Valley Militia), the checker (Anduril), Rau (Valley Militia) and Fugook (Guard).

And I second the thanks to Anastasia and Anduril for a fun event. Like Salamandastron, our NorCal neighbors, Mallenorod had a blast.

Thanks guys for taking so many pics of my unit and of Vek. I forgot, again, to take the camera out and get any pics.

I love taking pictures. I only wish my camera hadn't died. So many memorable and epic moments that should have been captured on film. Though the mind is the best camera. You bet I'll be more prepared next time!

Also thank you for posting the names of the people in the pictures. I'll update the picture captions when I get a chance.
