$25-$30 is what it's looking like. But no real figure yet, still haven't gotten everything locked down on pricing.

I realize this is as much is as a national week long event like chaos wars. But every event has it's own costs and insurance is whats jacking the price up for this event.

I hope this doesn't disillusion from anyone from coming. If you wish to attend but paying the fee is questionable. Talk to me via PM and we can see if we can work something out for you.

But trust me, this is worth every penny.

Wasn't western wars 5 $25 ? and every one before it? You're not really jacking it up. so no worries.

Money can be tight sometimes, but $25 dollars is:

 • Less than half the price of the cheapest hotel you will likely find (and for only 1 night)
 • Is the price of 1-2 nights in a communal bunkroom at a hostel.
 • Is cheaper than a private room in a hostel.
 • Is what you will likely pay anyway (if not more) for 2 nights of camping in a campground.

That's a good deal for a weekend of camping AND having it cover insurance. Just sayin.

March update!

So I'm deciding to "NOT" include the $250 deposit in the event fee. I trust my Belegarth family enough that they will behave and allow me to get my deposit back.

I started ordering some of the extras that will be needed for the event. Like a small grade megaphone, event bands, rope and other things needed for weapons check (scale, markers, tape). I will be ENFORCING National Belegarth "Book of War" rulings.

Of course I can make, and allow for, exceptions depending on circumstance and if your not a douche to me.

At the end of March I'll be traveling up to the park to help decide the layout with the park ranger and to also go over final details. This is also when I'll get the final "for sure" go ahead.

At the start of April I'll open up Pre-Reg via paypal and mailed checks.

Also I'm in need of a backup site to host the event at. The main site now has a 20% chance of falling through and my backup site didn't work out. Any and all help for this would be great.

Also thanks to Valerian of Gondor for offering to help and prepare feast for me this year. Valerian be taking care of all those details but the main food for feast will once again be the Chicken, veggies and rice. We're looking into a few other things as well. So plan if you want to add anything into your own plate, our cooks will be happy to add anything else you bring into your portion to cook up.

Also when would everyone would prefer feast night to be? Saturday or Sunday evening?

Now taking offers to help with weapons check, heralding and troll running and also the B.R.U.T.E. safety squad.
(Beautiful. Rugged. Unicorn. Tarantula. Elephants)

See 1st post for days needed to be filled.

Also I will be screening who does what. Not that I won't want your help but I may want you doing something else or I may just trust and know someone else more to be sure I know the job is done. You can volunteer for more then one thing.

I volunteer for drunken heralding at some point. It's tradition. I don't think I can commit to a certain time though, there has to be that certain magic in the air.

Acorn, talk to Valerian. Dutch ovens are being brought and if you guys want to do a breakfast thing let me know. Are you planning it for just a group of people or to actually feed the whole camp?

Timid and I have a dutch oven and would be willing to donate it to the cause. I'm thinking a whole bunch of German Pancakes (or Dutch Babies). They're super easy and serve a lot of people.

Question about B.R.U.T.E.'s, being logical I assume that intoxication is not an option, but are they going to be able to fight during their scheduled shifts or are they just going to have to patrol around doing... brutish things?

B.R.U.T.E.'s can drink but when intoxicated they are no longer B.R.U.T.E.'s I expect you to be responsible with your powers, there will be a meeting to discuss what your expectations are.

Does it suck? Yeah, but I want to make sure no one's stuff is stolen. As much as I wish we could go to event's and just have fun. I trust my Belegarth family, I don't trust the other people who will be visiting or camping in the area. Some of you who went to last years CW knows that some people had some things go missing due to random people being at the site.

Granted we're in a state park and CW is at a local ranch, but the park is only 30 miles or so from two really big cities, Vancouver and Portland.

So yes I'm going with a very cautious approach.

B.R.U.T.E. members also have my permission to beat the **** out of anyone who is underage who is "drinking" but not drinking from a drinking vessel or anyone who is attempting to write **** all over a bathroom.

I cannot stress enough about how there will be ACTIVE PARK RANGERS and POSSIBLE Police officers watching our event from time to time. They are wanting to make sure I'm complying with everything I told them I would do in order for us to be allowed back for next year.

I'm not trying to be the guy to put a downer on everything and say no one can't have any fun, but please KNOW your limits and don't do anything stupid because the person who is going to pay for mistakes is not only the one causing the problem, but I can be FINED as well. And if I end up in trouble because of someone else, there will be hell to pay on my end.

I would volunteer for heralding or weapons check, but don't really have enough event experience doing it, so you can put me down for a BRUTE shift.

You wanna know how to get more experience doing weapons check? By doing it at an event, now heralding is something that takes work on the other hand.

Anyone can do B.R.U.T.E btw, hell you can even troll and B.R.U.T.E at the same time, kill two birds with one stone.

Also I'll say this again. What is a good day for Feast? Saturday or Sunday?

Saxon! Thank you very much! That is helpful, and yes that would be helpful on how to instruct drunken people on possibility saving a life if required.

Also, NO ON BOW'S and ARROWS. Not allowed for this year, trust me it's something I plan to work on to allow but rules are rules.

Jav's are ok.

I still need
1: "Head Weapons Checker" and weapon checkers
2: "Head Herald" and heralds.
3: "Cooks" for feast night
4: "B.R.U.T.E.'s" for camp security
5: "B.R.U.T.E. Captain" for making decisions if I am unable to be found.
6. Two "Troll" shifts covered.

granted I'm sure that most people will volunteer same day or during the event, I would just like to have things planned ahead as much as can be allowed to avoid confusion.

Huma, I didn't specify a time as BRUTE because I want to split any shifts that don't get picked up with the other BRUTE volunteers and yourself, to make sure you can have a little fun at this amazing event you have worked so hard to make happen.

Feast Night. As head cook, I vote a huge SATURDAY night for feast. We have work and school Monday morning. Too hard to clean up, pack and drive late Sunday.
I only need cook's helpers for short while to get coals burning and chop a few veggies, then to clean up dutch ovens.

Re: Western Wars 7. For Real. May 20th thru 24th

Postby Huma » Wed Mar 31, 2010 12:25 am

New added to the event, this year I'm beginning to think that having a War Council would be a great idea as a way for me to find out who's willing to do what for the next years Western Wars and to also talk about other issues relevant to the Northwest. This will also help allow the several realms of in the area to get a better idea of who is leadership and also being able to take part in helping our community to grow.

And before you all groan in disappointment, trust me I wish stuff would just magically work it-self out. But sadly we're no longer the children that can just show up to events and have fun. We're turning into adults as much as we don't want too.

If it helps, I will enforce a 30 minute time limit that if needed, can be voted on to extend to keep talking about issues if we feel the need to continue for longer.

Also Friday evening at 8pm sound good for a start time? Or would it rather be a Sunday morning affair over brunch? Say 11am?

Sunday brunch time sounds like the best to me. I am all about a western wars war council. The pacific north west belegarth population is really exploding lately and it's a great idea to have a forum for us all to come together face to face and make some plans to better all of our growth and enjoyment of this sport.

So after visiting the campsite today, WHICH IS, in a word ridiculoamazinawesome. It turn's out that it's in a secluded area with a one road access and the only way random people are going to get in shady is if they come in though the woods. Pictures will be posted at some point.
A Drawing of the campsite has been posted!
Map will be made for the directionless inclined.

With the camping area being in an open area, 24 hour shifts for B.R.U.T.E.'s are thus, no longer needed, now that I know the layout of the camp site.

Instead B.R.U.T.E.'s can now just going around doing Brutish things to people. Also for all those wanting to be B.R.U.T.E.'s there will be a meeting Friday morning after weapons check to go over what your expectations are. I'm giving you some measure of power, don't abuse it.

On another note, I asked Bhakdar if he was interested in doing early morning stretch's before main fighting with anyone in camp who happened to want to wake up and do it. He said he would love too, so anyone who loves to get their stretch on before fighting (and really, you SHOULD do it) it's between 9 and 10 am.

Also, for any fighters that are wanting to learn how to do Weapons checking, or heralding. I will be offering class's on how to do those things.

Also for those who would want to get real on the job training with those things, I'm asking anyone who knows how to weapons check and herald take on someone as a tag-a-long when doing those things to help train them in those arts.

Fee is $23 pre-reg and $28 at troll. Admittedly more expensive than we'd like, but this I will vouch for as one of the best sites for the event size that I have ever been to. And you get fed free Saturday.

Also, if there is interest I will be available for a morning stretching/yoga circle Friday and Saturday. As always, I love coaching folks on fighting basics as well and anyone is welcome to approach me at the event about training & sparring.

The site and the crowd will be exceptional this year, I encourage you all to come. People who fly from afar will have preference on the bunk-houses. Site pics coming soon.

Note that with the awesomeness of the site and the frequent service we'll receive from rangers helping with trash & recycling that LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL BE PRESENT. Bring an unmarked container for alcohol, don't serve minors, and do private stuff privately!

Nuff said-- I'm stoked for an awesome Western Wars.

Updated the wiki with:

costs
yoga/stretching
"da law"
and
War Council

Take a look to make sure I got the details correct (so far as their are details)
Hawaii: Manoa
Washington: Gondor

There are no staffs in Belegarth. Because of how they are constructed, they are really Pugil Sticks.

So hyped. This'll be my first Western Wars. I'll send pre-reg as soon as I know what week I'll be getting off from class.

This event is going to be slightly different - I'm training right now to walk the 100 miles to or from the camp site. So if you see a haggard pilgrim with a big black hat along the way, be sure to say hi.

...Sheeeeeeeit.

So, I may not be able to hit up WW. I have my first MMA fight July 9th, and missing four days of training in a row really isn't an option right now.

I'll see what I can do, but put me down as a maybe right now.
