Rhûn Event Waiver

In consideration of receiving permission from Belegarth Medieval Combat Society (herein "BMCS"), to participate as a member of the BMCS and to participate in any activity, event, tournament, contest or meeting that BMCS participates, sponsors, attends, or supervises, the Undersigned releases BMCS, the owner of any premises where any BMCS activity, event, tournament, contest or meeting occurs, and any other member of the BMCS, individually, from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by the Undersigned's minor child, or any property of the Undersigned or the Undersigned’s minor child, while participating in any activity, event, tournament, contest or meeting that BMCS participates, sponsors, attends or supervises.

The Undersigned being duly aware of the risks and hazards inherent upon participating in any activity, event, tournament, contest or meeting of the BMCS, elects voluntarily to allow Undersigned's minor child to participate, knowing that participation requires physical contact by others to the person of the Undersigned's minor child and knowing that such participation may become hazardous and dangerous during the time that the Undersigned voluntarily assumes all risks of loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by the Undersigned's minor child, or any property of the Undersigned or Undersigned's minor child while participating in any activity, event, tournament, contest, or meeting that the BMCS participates, sponsors, attends or supervises.

This release shall be binding upon the distributees, heirs, next of kin, executors and administrators of the Undersigned and Undersigned's minor child.

In signing the foregoing release, the Undersigned acknowledges and represents:

(a) That he or she has read the above release, understands it, and signs voluntarily on behalf of themselves and their minor child;

(b) That he or she is over 18 years of age and of sound mind and is the parent or legal guardian of the minor child named below;

(c) Undersigned represents that Undersigned' s minor child has no physical or mental defects known to the Undersigned and unknown to the appropriate representative of the BMCS that would endanger or harm the Undersigned's minor child while participating in any activity, event, tournament, contest or meeting that the BMCS participates, sponsors, attends, or supervises.

Note also that we will be play testing new stabbing rules at this event and looking for feedback from everybody. Armor will be damaged by stabs, stabs will count towards limb totals for death, etc. So if you have a strong opinion one way or the other on this matter, please come to our event and give it a try before we all have to vote on it.

First off, does this include arrows? (If so, I will have a whole different post about how this is a bad idea)

Second, will this change anything against shields? (someone brought up double could, and if so, this would make having reds pointless)

Also, I believe this is extremely over powering. You are giving a spearman the ability from far away to cause someone's leg to count towards one limb to kill them. (rather they have armor on or not if it is two handed)

My question for you instead is why change the rule? What is the problem that changing the rule will solve? I think changing the rule, personally, will give more power to spears which they do not need. Also, I have seen people use daggers as double green. I grew up watching this. How does that affect them? (all it needs be is two handed...)

odd, coming from a realm that uses red flails and rocks. I don't really care for the idea either, but they are only play testing with a new rules.

We are now looking for any volunteers for Rhun Closer! We will be needing help with weapons check and heralding! Please either respond here or feel free to PM me!

Krikit, someone will be along to answer you query shortly, but I believe the main idea was to finally fix all the * recently about the green rules.

Im on my way out the door right now so I will answer the questions more specifically when I get home, but I wanted to avoid turning this into a rule debate.

The rule will count towards arrows and not break shields. If you have an issue with the rules we are TESTING please make your thoughts known in the Rules Discussion And Development board, and make it out to our event so that you can talk with experience why the changes suck.

Here's my thinking ad more of a syggestion as well. How aout play testing this for only half the fightng. It will allow us to have a full on side by side comparison with the same people and weapons as to how it changes the field as well as allow those of us not in favor of the rule change to enjoy the fighting we love

Your face volunteers.

You've got all the Rogues that show, which at the least should be myself, Hurin, Frosty, pquick, and Slagar, but I'm expecting just about all of us. Just haven't talked to everyone yet.

So after speaking with the man in charge, we will not be splitting the day up as far as rule testing goes. If it was multiple days then we could see that working, but its going to take a while for people to get in the swing of it in the first place. Not a bad idea though.

People that are age 16 and up may attend. If you are under 18 and do not have a notarized wavier, you will not be able to attend the event. The college requires us to have legit waivers.

Waivers will be posted in the second post of this thread.
