Karion,
We are doing it for you because we want to have you at our event. And beyond that, you deserve it man. You threw one hell of a Chaos last year and I believe you do deserve it. So, be humble and just take it. :fingers:

Right now it's raining outside, and it looks to be raining off and on till Friday. Weather reports say it is supposed to be good all weekend. We all know just how reliable they are.

We are staying at the Sandman Motel. I called and because I offered to go without daily maid service (and our military discount) he lowered the fee to $49 a night. I would call to see which hotel will give you the best discount and go with that.

I wish you all hard fighting and fun nights!!!

Speaking of Karion, I have one of his swords that he left down at War of Reckoning and I was planning to give it to him at Yestare.

Is anyone able to get it to him if I still bring it up? The next event that we will most likely both be at is Samhain.

And Karion, are you cool with me handing your stuff off to someone else?

Thanks to all of Utah people for an extremely fun event. This was my first yestare and it was awesome. Big thanks to all of the Cali people for coming so far for this event and I can't wait to fight with you guys again. Thank you Mathias for being a hater and Kelik for being a ginger. Thanks to Nash for showing us that being arrested can be funny at times, but for reminding us that all of us would bail each other out no matter what.

Feast was supposed to have other things in it, except for the soup. Many things had fallen through the weeks leading up to the event.

Firstly great event lots of amazing people and amazing fighters. Big thanks to ATD for the ride home when mine and lotus flowers ride fell through. The weather was great so maybe u can share your witch with the other realms so we can have some great weather for other events. ^_^.
Secondly the site was great. The ground was soft enough not to need a bed roll, the hot springs were right there and there weren't a whole lot of things that you could trip over or get hurt on. (except the broken glass of course O.o)
Third the rapture and Armageddon were amazing if u guys had anything to do with that great job u put a lot of work into it. :fingers:
The only cons i can think of was the food. Even thought the zompocalypse didnt happen we were eating like it did. Though i understand that a lot of things went wrong with that so no biggy.
The only other one i can think of is that the site had a lot of noises like birds and trains. That also is out of your control so still not a very big deal.
All in all amazing event cant wait to go again next year.

And par i know they rape and eat babies! :D

The main problem with the soup was that usually we make it at events in much smaller quantities. Making it in bulk made the recipe falter a little from the expected quality. Also, we were supposed to have a meat dish, but that fell through.

I had a great time at this event, despite the gas cost!

Pros:
  • Good camping, good fighting field / both extremely close to each other
  • Beautiful location
  • Troll was quick and easy
  • Mimosas for breakfast
  • Weapons checkers / heralds were polite and knowledgeable / made smart decisions quickly and stuck with them
  • Arrow checkers allowed me to add stop draws on a realm mate's arrows so they could be tested. Thank you for your extra time so that he could have fun.
  • I personally got to meet and spar with a good number of high end fighters that I had never met before, and got to know some other people better than before. Good folks all around.
  • Learning the **** about dolphins
  • Sir Cedric's stance/angles/footwork class that he was giving to Purp et al.
  • Gámhain and H'moden's (sp?) bardic skillz. Guys get cooler each time I see you.
  • Mead, coffee liqueurs, and other free booze at night!
  • All the tourneys/contests and prizes - very cool

Cons:
  • Location being moved further north
  • No Loptr
  • No red or spear tourneys
  • Soup - only inasmuch that the veggies were slightly undercooked and it needed salt. I did eat 4 bowls of it though, and I thought it was a very healthy, delicious, and economical course.
  • Portajohns running out of TP (glad I brought baby wipes)

You guys really did well, and I had a great time. I appreciate being invited to participate in Durzo's and Wyrlock's trials. I'll be back again next year and am looking forward to it. Running an event is hard work, especially when the pegs start falling out of their holes. It was good to see you all again, and the memories are good ones.

event was fun, would love to see some more constructive criticism given out so the people running the event can grow and learn.

pro:
fighting was fun
I enjoy the site, when it is not 100 degrees.
Andorians made my weekend.
meeting tons of new people that were awesome.
forsaken shelter on friday, kept the rain away.
troll was fast!
yuri playing the flute, was awesome!

cons:
lack of organization from coordinators
firewood with nails in it, numerous people stepped on them
lack of marshals on the field, and those there were not vocal.
took WAY too long to get the next fight going
Feast, just not good.
my jumper cables never got back to me, thanks, they were nice ones too.
whoever took $100 bucks out of my wifes car, don't show back up to an event, cause you wont leave it.
the people at bardic night with no redeeming value.
Gamhain and friends singing is great, lets try to stop when the flogging molly and dropkick murphy songs start comming out, expecially when half the people there are asking you to stop. (I enjoy your singing, just not all night modern crap)
My favorite color is beer.
Always folow the gospel of Cedric, or ye shall be damned.

Considering I am going to try and do this event every year, I love seeing that people are being very specific on what they liked and didn't like. It gives me a great chance to figure out what is best to do and what not.

Thank you Cedric and Tiberius.

Since this is the specific yestare thread, I'll give it to you straight here.

1.Please stop with the **** unit trials during regular fighting time. ALL OF YOU! Knights, units, realms, house holds, whatever, just stop it. It totaly derails the fighting. Half the people just stand there watching. Do your unit **** AFTER the fighting. Or before, during weapon check.

2. Tournies have no place at a 1 day event. They kill the monentum of the whole day. People come for larger fights than they can get at their local practice. If tourneis are nececary, run them during weapon check. Let the people who want to show off get up early to do it.

3. Never let the fighting just die off like after lunch. That **** was lame.

4.If you are going to run a CotF battle, or other scenario, make sure you have it all worked out before hand. The CotF battles died becuase the teams were horribly uneven and you guys stood around trying to figure out how to run it until everyond started to *. **** like that need a solid game plan and to be executed in as little down time as possible.

5. The soup was... I already went there.

You did a fine job for your first event Horati. You didn't recieve much help from the other people in your realm who knew how to do this. We can tell becuase they were all there and have run very good events in the past.
It was not horrible OR a failure, just uncomfortable in places. I'm sure you will do very well next year. Please ask if you need any help. I can bring the ropes for borders and other **** like that.

I suppose since feast is on just about everybody's CON list, that apologies are in order.

There were a number of factors contributing to the suckiness that was the Yestare XI feast, not least being the fact that I have never cooked for so large a group before.

Initially, I was only going to be assisting with feast, but the responsibility for fully running it sort of fell into my lap pretty late in the game.

We had originally planned to have a marinated beef main course with the "cauliflower prison soup" and twisty bread as side dishes. We found out from our other cook pretty much the DAY BEFORE that we weren't going to have the meat dish, and the cook who was making the twisty bread had the flu.

I tried my best to improvise and add a sh*t load of chicken and vegetables and extra potatoes to make the soup into stew to fill the bellies of ~100 hungry Belegrim, and apparently I failed.

I apologize to all in attendance who were disappointed with feast.

I tried my damnedest to overcome all of the obstacles that kept arising, but I failed and shall now hang my head in shame...

* Sir Cedric: I agree with you on the whole "the singing stops when Flogging Molly starts" thing. Just because it's Celtic doesn't make it good. I like Flogging Molly, but not around a campfire and out of key.

I apologize if I contributed to it. I'm usually one to tell people to stick to something at least quasi-medieval.
