Why doesn't Okfest get it's own sub board? isn't it the big event in the east?

Because Geddon is the national event of the east.

Fest is run by a realm/group within a realm (much like Spring Wars), and the funding comes from and goes to that realm. Geddon is run by Belegarth, and the money comes from and goes to Belegarth.

So none of the money made at fest goes to the national treasury?

Nope, it typically just goes back into Numenor's bank, since that's the realm that always runs 'Fest.

Dear Oktoberfest,

It has been many moons since we last saw each and it will be many more until I am at last in your sweet embrace. Know that I haven't forgotten you and we will soon have many laughs and open many cans of grade A whoop *. Fret not that there is still so much time, we both have much readying to be gotten to. Know that you are ever in my thoughts and our fated meeting draws tantalizingly closer with each day.

Love,

Corrine: While I am unsure who you should contact this year (last year I contacted Ellie, but I am not sure she will be involved this year), here is a link to what we did last year: Review. Hopefully its useful to you.

Lady Feri said something about Merchant's Row being moved to the big pavilion, but I would have to talk to her again to confirm. If so, there will be a lack of outlets to use but light at night will be provided by the pavilion.

The best I can offer you is to try and ask Kegg himself. Last year I had compiled a FAQ, but I'm not sure how much of it is relevant now. Should I post it anyway?

I believe there was some issue with the merchant commandeering the pavilion at Armageddon? I dunno what Numenor is doing though. I would post the FAQs anyways. You can always change what is no longer relevant, and something is bound to be helpful!

Ohaire is the closest but Midway isn't really a huge pain in the *. And you're kind of Bhakdar, getting you to the event will be Belegarth's pleasure, celebrity.

I've done it before, I'd do it again.

Also, most convenient would be o'hare, but I've heard midway is cheaper.

Also, also, if you don't want a ride from me, more people will be closer to swing by midway (me thinks)

Midway is cheaper if you fly with southwest or porter (porter may be Canadian lol)

Here's the FAQ I compiled last year, much of this is likely outdated but it might be helpful.

---

General Attendees

When and where is OctFest?
- As of 2011, October 5-9. It will be held at Stonehouse Park in Earlville, IL.
Address: 3719 Suydam Road, Earlville, IL, 60518

How much does it cost to attend?
- $25 if you pre-register* by September 30th. At the gate, $30 on Wednesday and Thursday, $25 on Friday, and $15 on Saturday.

My kid wants to come, what are the prices for children?
- Ages 12 to 15: Wednesday and Thursday price is $20, Saturday it decreases to $15.
- Age 11 and under: Free.

I just want to attend for one day, how much is that?
- $15. You must check in at troll, fill out a waiver, pay, and then check out at troll (for which you may find a nice surprise).

How do I register in advance?
- Visit this website: Edhellen*. Pre-registration ends September 30th.

What information do I need to give for registration?

- Your first and last name, your fighting name (if applicable), and your unit and/or realm (if applicable). If you are paying for multiple people you should include their information as well. You will also be required to fill out a waiver.

What is required by the waiver?
- You must fill out this document: Waiver (opens as a .doc file).

Persons under the age of 18 must have a notarized waiver. "This means you have to take your filled out waiver to a notary and have them stamp, sign, and date your waiver to make it a legal document." - Sir Misti.

Persons 15 and under must have a notarized waiver and be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian, no exceptions.

Persons 16 or 17 years old must have a notarized waiver and be accompanied by a chaperon that is at least 21 years old.

What does my registration fee cover?
- Two feasts, entry, and the right to camp.

When I check in at the gate, what information do I need?
- "Proper identification is required by all participants (fighting or not) to attend the event. This means you must provide a state/government issued photo ID." - Sir Misti. You must also fill out a waiver, provide your first and last name, your fighting name, and your unit and/or realm.

Do we still get free firewood?
- No. You may, however, pick up dead fall trees and limbs to use. Please do not cut down live trees. You can also buy firewood for a reasonable fee at the camp store.

Can I bring my own firewood?

- No. There has been a rash of a highly destructive insect called the Emerald Ash Borer plaguing ash trees, absolutely wiping out hundreds of them. You can find more information about it here: Emerald Ash Borer.

How do I reserve a campsite?
- There are group campsites available for groups of 10 or more. There are also a few individual camp sites with fire rings, but those are first come, first serve. There will be a map soon, and all sites that are unclaimed are first come, first served.

How can I reserve a cabin?
- "Let us know how many of you are coming, and we will set aside the necessary space." - Cyric.
Send an email to info@stonehousepark.net. First come, first served.
Price: $60 a night.
Cabins can sleep 10-15 people with some room for gear, depending on how many you choose to cram in.
Cabin money is due at the gate unless otherwise told. -Cyric

Is there still a feast?
- Yes, on Friday and Saturday.

Can I bring my pet to the event?
- Yes but you must have your dog on a secure leash, with leash in hand at all times your pet is with you. You must also clean up after your pet whether it be droppings or damage to the park property. If you are not with your pet you are required to put them in a crate or tie them up. Overall it is recommended to leave your pet at home to avoid stress to the animal.

---

Travel, eating locations, and nearby attractions.

What is the best airport to fly into?

- "Depends who you ride with. The two closest ones are Chicago O'Hare and Bloomington/Normal. I'm sure you can find someone that would be willing to pick you up from either." - Caleidah.
"O'Hare or Midway are probably going to be cheaper and easier to get to." - Cyric.

Is there a set time at which the campground is closed?

- No, it is open all night long.

What is in the vicinity of Stonehouse insofar as food and etc?
- "A lot. There are multiple towns of decent size within a 20-30 minute drive. I'm sure somebody can come up with a better comprehensive list, but I know for sure there are: multiple restaurants (fast food and sit-down), super walmart, hotels, grocery stores, gas station, hardware stores (if necessary), etc. If you are in need of a specific establishment, any of the park staff should be able to let you know if and where it can be found." - Lorenzo.
"Walmart in sandwich or plano, same town though basically." - Noik.
"The camp store has a lot of things people usually need for camping. Snacks, ice, beverages, first aid etc. However, like other people have said there are plenty of stores and restaurants within a half hour of the park. Camp staff should be able to point you in the direction. We should also have a hand out at troll (when you check in) that will have directions to most places." - Sir Misti.

---

Fighters

What days will there be fighting?
- Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

When and where is weapons check?
- In the 3-bay barn, from 10 AM until 12 PM. Missiles check will be closed at 11 AM. Head heralds will spot check weapons for late arrivals.

---

Merchants

How much is booth space?
- $50, both for pre-registration* and at the gate. There is no difference in price based on how many days you are attending.

How can I pre-register?
- Visit this website: Edhellen*. Pre-registration ends September 30th.

What information do I need to give for registration?

- Your first and last name, your fighting name, and your booth name.

What does the vendor fee include?

- Entry for one person, vendor booth space, and a vendor certificate that must be displayed in your booth. You will also be allowed to camp behind merchant's row.

What must I provide as a vendor?

- Your own tent, whatever you are selling (obviously), and any additional accouterments such as tables/etc for your booth space.

Are there electrical and water hookups?
- Yes.

Is there a list of vendors that will be there?
- No.

Update for 2011: Vendors will be in the pavilion and hookups will be limited.

---

* If Illinois sales tax is added to your order you will be refunded that at the gate.

Numenor is running the event. The event coordinator this year is Frosty, and the secondary contact is Hurin. Contact either of them for questions regarding merchants, feasts, parties, entertainment, and so on.

No unit is running it. It is being ran by the realm as a whole. The squires of are overseeing it with Torry and Frosty being the main two. I will be giving them a hand and helping them out.

* if it is about the party Nigel got hold of me and I am posting something on the KON boards soon. If not send me a pm.

* I will be contacting you about the medic here in the next few days.

* that someone is me. Send me a pm and I will be glad to sign you up for something

* - Misty usually handles the merchants I will talk to her in the next couple days and see what is going on with that.

I'm sorry about my late reply, I'm short a P.C. atm.

Merchants-the price is 50$ like the prvious year. The pavilion is a new question I have't heard about, I'll Ask Greg about that this afternoon.

I'm coming to Octoberfest! I'm looking for rides at the following times:

Pickup from Chicago Midway 6:16pm Wednesday, Sept 5th

Drop-off EARLY Sun Sept 09, Airport by 4:30-5 AM as departure is at 6am.

Btw, thanks for the tip on Midway; I highly recommend it-- found tickets for just under $300 where everything else was in the $500 range.

What are the qualifications you need for a medic? I'm only CPR and First Aid certified, but if it helps any, I'm willing to add a hand in any way.

Also, if you need anyone for any service aspects, Troll, Heralding, etc, let me know.

Tails thanks for the pickup! Huma got in on the same flight-- would you have room for two? He's nicer than I am.

Can I bring my own firewood?

- No. There has been a rash of a highly destructive insect called the Emerald Ash Borer plaguing ash trees, absolutely wiping out hundreds of them. You can find more information about it here: Emerald Ash Borer.

I'm sorry but i have to ask why is it not ok for us to bring our own firewood when it's ok to buy it from u because of this emerald ash borer. I'm asking out of curiosity and not to be a * so please don't take it that way.

No doubt it's because the ash borer is elsewhere but not at the park. Allowing outside firewood risks introducing the bug to the park.

Yes, yes... My dad lives in the Jesup, Iowa area and it killed all his ash trees (approx 10) so huge deal right now in the Midwest.

As to the pavilion questions, I know a couple booths were set up in the pavilion at Geddon, but I'm fairly certain that was a last-minute "Oh, ****, the field's a lake now", measure. I wouldn't assume it will be allowed again without sufficient reason (such as another round of biblical flooding). I might be wrong, but that seems like the safe bet to me.
