THINGS YOU WILL NEED AT OPENER:

(In no particular order, for they are ALL important)

1. STATE-ISSUED PHOTO ID
This is non-negotiable. There is no bribe that will get you around this. YOU NEED AN ID TO GET INTO THE EVENT. Your ID must be issued by a state office and contain your real name, your photo, and your date of birth. Some examples include, but are not limited to:

*a driver's license
*a passport
*a non-driver's license state ID card
*military ID
*FOID card

And yes, we need the original. A photocopy or other reproduction will not work. Without an ID, you will not get into the event.

2. A WAIVER**
For anyone over 18, yes, we will have a stack of waivers available at Troll and pens for you to fill them out. We will verify your age with your ID and once you pay your money, you will be able to get into the event and have a marvelous, claustrophobic-fighting-time.

If you or someone you know is planning to come and "just watch", you/they need a waiver just the same. Don't care if you're not dressed for fighting, not carrying any gear, and have never heard of Belegarth before you stepped into the fieldhouse on the day of WPO. For admittance to the event, you need to fill out and sign a waiver.
**EDIT: Tried to link to the normal, printable Wolfpack waiver and failed. This will be remedied in coming days, so keep your shorts on.

2.5. A NOTARIZED WAIVER for those under 18.
This waiver has to be printed and filled out in advance, then signed and notarized BEFORE you come to the event. Public notaries are available in most government offices as well as many banks, libraries, and college campuses in every state. Your parent/guardian (whose signature is what matters) will have to sign the waiver for the notary so we know that it's ok with them to have you run around like a madman with a bunch of other madmen, trapped in an increasingly smaller space and trying to harm each other. If you do not have a notarized waiver and your ID says you're under 18, you will not be allowed into the event. Period.

3. FOOTGEAR.*
This is not a Wolfpack rule; this is an Illinois State University rule. You must have something more than a pair of socks on your feet in order to fight. Flipflops will work, even though they're a bad idea to fight in (especially if you're wearing socks too). Fighters may not run around barefoot. Period.

*But please don't wear cleats. This is an indoor fieldhouse with one of those space-aged springy floors. Don't punch holes in it with your feet. It isn't real lawn and doesn't need aeration.

4. MINIMUM GARB AS OUTLINED IN THE BoW.
Which is as follows:

Appendix B
1. Garb
1.1 Garb is defined as the clothing to be worn by all participants of Belegarth.
1.2 Minimum garb is the basic requirements for all participants. Minimum garb is defined as.
1.2.1 A tunic or tabard covering the torso.
1.2.1.1 Neutral colored t-shirts, with no visible printing, or sports bras may be worn underneath a tunic or tabard.
1.2.1.2 Wearing nothing on the torso is acceptable for men.
1.2.2 Baggy pants or trousers covering the legs.
1.2.3 Skirts, Kilts, and Dresses are acceptable substitutes.
1.2.4 Footwear should be muted colors, boots are preferred athletic shoes should be of a dark color and not unnatural. Barefoot or Sandals are acceptable.
1.2.5 Any piece of modern equipment or clothing required out of medical necessity overrules the minimum garb requirements.

1.3 Forbidden items:
1.3.1 T-shirts that are brightly colored, white, with visible logos, with visible collars, and or visible pockets.
1.3.2 Camouflage or military issued cargo pants.
1.3.3 Modern jeans of any color.
1.3.4 Modern hats.
1.3.5 Any fabrics with modern prints.
1.3.6 Any realistic weapons.

Anything less than the minimums will definitely get you ridiculed and, depending on the herald, might even get you sidelined. Don't risk it. Find yourself a set of one-day garb and save yourself, and everyone who has to look at you, a headache.

Now please, tell your friends--because last year (that's right, last year, 2011, decades into the Computer Age and with smartphones, iPads, and a million other internet-ready devices available to them--) we at Troll were hearing the excuse that people were unaware of these relatively simple rules because they "didn't get the web". I understand that there are people living with less than ideal resources, but if you're going to come to Opener--and particularly if you're going to come to Opener from a very long ways away--it's within YOUR best interest to make sure that the people you're traveling with are aware of, and compliant with, the rules that apply to the event you're attending. So tell your friends! Have a notarizing-waivers party! Double-check everyone's luggage for proper garb and lack of cleats! Make the whole trip fun!

See you in 29 days!

Someone should probably post all the relevant info (like times/locations/costs) at the top of this thread; so that someone looking for the official info doesn't have to wade through all the "when is WPO" posts.

Also, i don't see the actual location posted yet...

As this amazing event has happend every year at the same spot I could see how this gets overlooked.
Location is the Horton Fieldhouse on the Illinois State University campus.

Did anyone pick up a barley made red? Should have "tails" written near the bottom of the blade, but now that I'm thinking about it I'm not sure about that.

If that is the red I was hit with sometime during the event, then yes, it did have TAILS written on the blade...
