War of the Gate 8 (I think) - Sept 2012

So due to real life not allowing for people have have fun....we are going to reschedule War of the Gate to June of 2013.

There is an event in Oregon that uses the same initials for their event, WoG....so we will also be revamping the name as well. It will be known as War in the North...also known as WiN (which amuses me terribly)

Anyone that was planning on making it to the event has my apologies for having to reschedule it but we hope to see you here in June all the same!

And leave it Galya to remember all dates and numbers. Or at least be unlazy enough to search for the previous years numbers. :)

*shrug* I just checked the Event Listing. Last year was War of the Gate V. It's pretty simple, I think people just forget that thing is there.

I'll try and make it. It's in Montana you say? That's a little far from me, but, I'll try my hardest. I think I know some folks out there.

I will stab you in the eye...with toast....if you don't show up, Hakan.

For those of you curious about the group site we found, here is some more info:

Overview
Larry Creek Group Campground is located in western Montana's Bitterroot National Forest. It is a great location for an extended family or group getaway, providing access to many fishing, hiking, mountain biking and hunting opportunities.
Natural Features:

The campground sits at a fairly low elevation in the Bass Creek Recreation Area between Missoula and Hamilton. It is situated west of the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge, in an area forested with pine, spruce and fir trees.

A variety of wildlife, including mule and white-tailed deer, elk, moose and birds can often be seen in the area.
Recreation:

A variety of hiking and mountain biking trails are nearby, including a half-mile nature trail that highlights some the area's best features. The 9-mile Bass Creek Trail is located just south of the campground and leads to a scenic overlook and many fishing holes.

Bass Lake, Bass Creek and numerous additional mountain streams make the campground a very popular location for fishing.

An interpretive trail, fitness trail and volleyball court are located within the campground.
Facilities:

The campground offers one large, accessible group campsite, available for tent and RV camping. It can accommodate up to 75 people and 10 vehicles. The adjacent parking area is small, limiting RVs to about 30 feet in length.

The site is equipped a picnic shelter, several tables, a large campfire circle and grills. Accessible pit toilets and drinking water are provided. A gravel road accesses the campground.
Nearby Attractions:

The Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge is located along the Bitterroot River about 20 miles from the campground. The refuge provides visitors with opportunities for wildlife observation, photography, hunting, fishing and environmental education. A wildlife viewing area offers 2.5 miles of nature trails, including an accessible 0.5-mile path. The trails meander through meadows and woodlands along the river.

If for some awesome reason there are more than 10 cars, there is a parking area a mile down the road that I could talk to the rangers about us using for the weekend.

I'm fairly sure your husband could convince me to not only show up but work my * off. I'm even convinced it wouldn't be that hard he could just say "Do it" and I'd be like "yeah a'right"

the camp ground is nestled at the foot of these mountains

This camp ground is just awesome! There are hiking and horse trails all over the place. It is pet friendly with a little creek right next to the camp site. There is a bigger creek just about 3 minutes away where you can fish. Stores and other amenities are within a few minutes drive as well. Aside from the campground being incredible....the event will be awesome as well ;)

That happened to McGee last year. And it was an ANGRY bear. In the bear's defense, it was McGee's fault the bear got angry. :P

That sadly will lead you to an address that is NOT the campground. I had the same problem this year with WoF. Here is a site and directions to the camp proper.
http://visitmt.com/listing/categories_N ... ordID=6917
Travel 5 miles north of Stevensville, then 3 miles northwest of US Highway 93. Camp area is located 1 mile north of the Charles Waters Campground.

I'll be running POGS at WoG this year. The only POG tournament in Belegarth. If you got 'em, bring up, but I'll make sure to have plenty on hand. And we play for keeps :D

General breakdown of the schedule

Friday: show up, set up and pick up battles

Saturday: 3 man tourney, Dragon Battle, Sword and Board Tourney, Mongolian wrestling at night in the sand pit (bring it :goblin: )

Sunday: Single blue tourney, Archery tourney, Oracle Battle and feast

Monday: clean up and go home

Troll will open at 9am and run till 3pm and then be open as needed after that.
Weapons check will start at 10am on Saturday and then also be as needed after that.

Things are subject to change and I didn't post all the other stuff like filler battles and all but they are there too. Hopefully someone will have some washer boards so we can play a bit in the evening. The site is beautiful and I promise to keep you entertained...it will be worth the trip!
