I am very new to fighting and have very little experience with combat in general; despite some training in martial arts I barely remember the name of, let alone the techniques.
I am interested in eventually learning florentine scimitars, but figured that may be a little advanced for a new fighter. As a compromise, I've settled on mace and shield, as it is another style that piqued my interest.

The point of this post is not my ceaseless rambling but to ask for suggestions on self teaching these styles and techniques.
I do not have easy access to a realm near my location, and the only others around me with combat experience I would prefer to not associate with.

I appreciate any help that can be offered and thank you wholeheartedly. C::

Hey Dymek. Without ready access to sparring partners, your best bet for training would be general conditioning, footwork drills, and pelling.

Fighting mechanics don't know any game boundaries, as far as basics go, so even though some of these may reference Amtgard they'll definitely give you great results:

As for general conditioning, it's important to remember that even though we don't really treat it like a sport by and large, it really is. A body in good shape is going to move faster, longer, and more precisely.

Finally, try and recruit a friend if you can. Having someone to go through drills with, spar with, and talk theory with will help a lot :)
