you can get blue foam at walmart. and fiberglass or what not at home depot such stores, but being new i recommend simply buying stuff from edhellen. so much easier, even if you just go with the kits.

Unless you are very cordinated, don't fight florintine (two swords), I would go with a med length fast (light) blue sword and a punch shield (cheaper and helps you learn to block)

Hey, I've been doing some floritine lately, that must mean I'm cordinated!!! WOOT

Actually bro, while many do go with the old sword and shield standby, I HIGHLY recommend trying as much as you can. I have people in my realm that stank trying to use just one sword, or something, but rocking duel weilding. Sometimes you might have a little bit better of a time with one set of weapons, then the other. I Fought greatsword for a couple of years until I found out I was decent at Long sword and shield. Its all about what works for you. Do you have a realm nearby, or friends that fight also?

Honestly the only person who can tell you that, is yourself. Just advice, but you should try every weapon out, experiment with combos and go from there.

As far as materials... Here's what I did:

Lowes: Sch 80 PVC (2-5.00 based on size), Gorilla Glue (15.00), Duct Tape (3.00)

Walmart: Camping Pads (5.00) , Electric Tape (40 cents for it)

Spent total 80$ on supplies and still have yet to run out after 10 blue swords, 1 red LONG sword, 2 barrel maces, and a special prototype of mine not yet unveiled:)

I guess you are then. I always get tangled up. I fought with ann ultra-light longsword with an extended handle two handed for a while. Stopped after the archers made a point to kill me in the first minute. The thing with florintine is that you have to be able to block (not as easy as it sounds). If there is a realm near you they should have some loaner weapons that you can try out. May I also suggest a flail (disarming people=fun)

BTW: I still have enough for at least 10 more weapons before I have to go shopping for materials again. One bottle of Gorilla glue lasted me 14 weapons so basically a dollar and some change for every weapon as opposed to DAP which is like 5$ for a half gallon "I think," which would yeild quite a bit more than 14 weapons...

One more material:

Trigger Fabric for weapon cover * Walmart 30$ for 6 yards...

You know Killian, I fought Flourentine most of the time for about 10 years. Archers made that an impossibility. I feel your pain.

ya, I saw your other post. And I was wondering because my realm doesn't really have an age restriction, but obviously the one near you does.

there isn't really a perfect combo but you see alot of shields because of archers and because of the fact that most flourtiners, to be successful must be able to fight offensively and defensivly with both hands. i personnely like the long sword and tower punch /or round strap shield because the shield is easy defense and the long sword combined with my fast land makes me able to surprise people before they get within range of their weapons

my normal style is with a red sword and buckler but I like to flourtine when I can. Haveing a buckler or backsheild is better than not haveing a sheild at all. I like bucklers personally because it is instinct to put your arm up to protect yourself. And it increases your chances aganist arrows and javvies.
