Help with foam

Postby Stealth Nin » Sun May 07, 2006 8:13 pm

Yeah...I believe what I have in my home at the moment is open cell, but I'm not exactly sure. I've checked the net for pictures, but that still doesn't allow me to tell them apart. Can anyone explain-- and even show me-- the differences?

The difference between open and closed cell foam... is... like....

With open cell, the cells of foam are open. Think of a sponge. Closed cell the cells are closed. If you drip water on a thing of blue, it just slides off, it doesn't absorb into the open... like pores, of the foam.

Open foam is typically squishier, absorbs water, lighter, that kind of thing.

Closed-cell foam is, typically, found in camp-pads and stuff you're going to use in a pool.

Open-cell is like a nerf football, or a couch cushion or something of that nature, and, like previously said, is sponge like and water absorbant.
