Moving to Fresno, CA

Hello, I am moving to Fresno, CA in August to start school there and I was wondering if there were any realms in the area that would be willing to accept new members.

Might be alone out there. Good news is that you can start your own realm. It is a terrible amount of hard work and confusion, especially if you are a newer Belgrim, but on the bright side, you are close to UCSC (3h), and a Dagorhir realm Mellanorod in San Jose, meaning that if you keep contact with them occasionally, you can't go too far astray. Plus, we can go to see you too (4-5h). This way you can get some help if you need it from other groups. Use the boards for advice too, and you can PM me if you have other questions.

You may also want to try looking at established Amtgard realms and LARP groups, just to make contact with the locals for fighting friends. I recommend LARP Alliance on Meetup.com as a resource for networking.

If you wish to start your own realm in Fresno I would be more than willing to go help you along with my girlfriend as she lives in that county....and there's absolutely nothing to do in that area...you'll be bound to get a bunch of bored teenagers and young adults attending your fight sessions.

I remember someone offhandedly mentioning that they lived in Fresno but I was busy with something else at the time and I had never gotten their name.

I play Belegarth/Dagohir in Fresno/Clovis, We HAD a belegarth house named Camden Rowan Going for a while, we at our peak got 35 memebers, when then alot of of people stopped showing up, and we dropped to maybe 11 dedicated memebers, and since out veteran Memembers, who have played for 5+ years, switched to dagohir, the rest of us switched.

If there is a Dag realm there, I would suggest you just go to them, building a realm in competetion with another is very difficult and causes a lot of bad blood. Fight Dag, it's basically the same.

I have no idea about the geography in California (and I'm too **** lazy to google map it right now), but there are Bel realms in Ventura and Irvine (I think it is) and there's another kicking around. I'm pretty sure there's a Dag realm in LA and Fresno.

I'm going to be heading out that direction myself real soon. I should be in LA on the 29th/30th of August and I'll be needing to fight... so we can definitely touch base and beat on each other... And raid the other realms.

Just as a general note, if you are going to be moving out to California you may want to work on your geography a little bit. Sadly, I am going to be moving FROM Ventura to Fresno on the 21st which is a good 4 hour drive so I think my best option would be to get into the Dag realm out there. Depending on how often you go to Ventura (about 45-1:30 trip for you depending on traffic) I may see you when I come home and we can fight each other then.

I ran the Fresno/Oakhurst, CA chapter of Dagorhir, called Dor Gondiaur, for years, before it folded due to lack of interest. I wish you all the luck, but as someone else mentioned, it is a long, thankless task.

theres a boffer group in modesto. its not dag or bel. but it's pretty brutal still.

Yep yep, Saturdays at noon but we hardly go to 6 anymore because of the heat and laziness. I won't be there this weekend but there will be be others there for sure.
