Starting a realm questions

Postby Ackius » Wed Nov 10, 2010 9:00 pm

Hello!
Im highly considering starting a realm. I know many people who are ready to join and even more to contact.
My question is about starting it up! I see Derians post about starting one up but im wondering if there are any other things needed?
Do i need to make any type of payment?
Should i make permission slips for safety and have the members sign them? (legal stuff?)
Is there a maximum, minuimum on members?
Is your realm required to attend anything outside our state?
Thanks!

Yes, money orders welcome, payable to me, thanks.
Yes.
No.
Not necessarily, you should hit as many events as possible.

There's not a specific one...but http://geddon.org/index.php/Waiver is a good place to start :)

And as long as you're handing out money, I'll take some too!

All joking aside, Belegarth does not require dues or a payment of any kind to use our name and rule system. Just make sure you're telling people it's us and not something you made up yourself. :)

You should post your location and get into touch with your closest neighbors. You should get all the benefits of joining a national community. These people can help you keep up with technology and safety developments, making it easier to go to events and get along with other groups. Plus, you might make some very cool friends all over the country.

Hey there Ackius. Welcome to belegarth. Yeah, what there telling you is true. Deffinately hit up a near by realm. They will help you out alot. I just started a Crew 2 years ago, its slowly going up and down, luckily ending in the up before practices have to stop before the winter for us. Just keep in mind, its not very cost effective if your starting on your own... trust me, i probly spent about a grand my first season on weapons event fees and food and such. So make sure if people can give you a hand take all the help you can get. Also with other realms, they are really generous for the most part with helping you make weapons, garb, getting used to rules, and sometimes just joining a practice making you feel even better bout those first few practices. Good Luck with everything

There's not much to say that hasn't already, but here's some other things to take into consideration.

Like Ana said, let your location and presence be known. come up with a suitable realm name and register it on Geddon.org.

A coat of arms, or representative symbol of your realm helps readily identify yourself by sight.

Start a Realm Website. It's always a good idea to update or leave announcements on your site so that even if activity is sparse there, people know you're still an active group.

Print up flyers and posters.

Organize your paperwork. Make a binder to keep track of realm info and permission slips. Also find out where your closest notary is.

Don't take on all of the administration responsibilities yourself.

By all means, go to any event you can make it to and fly your colors proudly there.
If ever faced with a choice between two evils. Pick the one you've never done before.
