Welcome! We're very happy you're here. Please feel free to search for any questions you might have or start a new topic.

If you have a moment, please take a look at the questions I've posted here. If you could take a few minutes to answer the questions it would be of a great help.

Thanks and welcome to Belegarth!

Well to answer ur last remark. I have been sword training since i could walk. My father was very adamant about teaching me the sword. And yes i am 23yrs old. And do in fact have appx. 20yrs. of fighting experience. Full contact, with wooden boken, shinia, and altered single hand shinia with fencing guards. I have also been doing full contact with foam weapons for many years now. But it wasn't until very recently that i learned of belegarth through my compartiots from the KOKT (knights of kotor). Simply put, if you or anyone you might know who lives in the Yuba or Sutter County's of CA would like to get together and discuss the prospects of joining or creating our own unit, please contact me here. If not, please keep your opinions to oneself. Conrad

ME? Keep my opinions to myself? not likely. Maybe you should visit socal and teach me what you have learned in 20 years...

Also, there are many people in the area that would happily fight with you. They aren't on these boards, but if you go here:caamtgard.com mention your location you will find some belegarth peeps in your area that travel south to fight.

I am in the Yuba/Sutter area. Locally we have Amtgard in Sacramento, and SCA in Yuba City, Chico, and Sacramento. No Bel or Dag units I am aware of. We would be more than willing to fight with you some time.

The Fighter Skill Development and Training board has a great sticky (viewtopic.php?f=135&t=26377)
that contains information on just about everything--for new and experienced fighters. Specific questions posted there are also more likely to get a response from knowledgeable fighters. Hope that helps.

Does the Belegarth fight community still exist?
Are there still big evens and fights and things?

It most definitely does. Where are you located? There are regular large events all over the US plus at least one or two internationally.

Your first and subsequent posts make you sound like a bot. Proper grammar, as well as not posting a hello in random topics like HERALDRY, can help solve this issue.

Greetings!

StormWolf here, 21yr. old resident of Laguna Beach, CA, looking for Belegarth LARPers nearby, possibly even in town. Mainly looking for players in Laguna due to the fact I don't currently have a car. I have been training with edged and staff weapons for the better part of 9 years, but sadly have no one to use such skills with. I would be game with starting a Laguna realm if there are enough people in/around the town showing interest.

Skål!

I fight in Irvine, right up the road from Laguna Beach. Our realm is known as Anduril, or Sword at UCI. We get an average of about 30 fighters per practice and we practice twice a week. I would be up for hitting you up in Laguna sometime if you can't make it to Irvine.

I've been eyeballing Anduril, but until I get das auto I'm pretty much stuck in LB. I'd rather not hop on the OCTA in full garb XD.

Lots of people take the bus to get here, but as I said I don't mind hitting you up so you can get some practice in. Maybe even taking you out to Anduril sometime.

With the end of the semester and the beginning of summing rolling in for so many universities, I'm sure I'm not the only one who could do with some good old fashioned violence to let off some steam.... after a bout of sleeping and binge drinking, naturally.

Perfect, feel free to join the Anduril facebook page(assuming you have facebook) and I will add you on there. It's labeled as "Sword at UCI"

Hey,
I am so new I don't exist lol.

Just wondering if women are involved in the fighting?

Not that I am likely to get involved since I live in New Zealand and there's not a single realm here. And not having done anything like that before I am not likely to start one.

If anyone does start one in Auckland could they please let me know?

But yeah... the woman thing?? :sword:

Women are absolutely involved in the fighting, and there actually is a group starting up in New Zealand. For information on the New Zealand realm, try messaging Soron here on the boards; I don't know where he's located, but he posted back in August about starting a realm there.

As for how involved women are in fighting, that's completely a personal decision. There are no limitations to what you can do based on your gender. If you want to use a greatsword, you can do that. If you want to do archery or be a shieldwoman, you can do that too. The nice thing about Belegarth is that you can be as deeply and as diversely involved as you want to be. If you have any more specific questions, please feel free to post again! Oh, and welcome to Belegarth.

Cheers,

Thurat

There are plenty of ladies in this game, a fair few of them who are able to kick all kinds of *.

If you are ever interested in starting up a realm, be sure to post here. Thurat will bury you in useful information.

Hello all. Name is Stripes, first post here. Picked up Belegarth in Southern California this year, (Steele may remember me) but had to move away to an unfortunately Belegath-less area: College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA.

Wiki doesn't list any realms less than an hour away, so I thought I might try to get one started where I am. I know how to build swords and javelins, and plan to port my small stock (5 weapons + shield) to VA in spring and teach some friends.

Other than making more weapons, I am in sore need of advice for realm start-up. I've read the main wiki article on the subject, but advice from experience is greatly appreciated!

Hey, Stripes, welcome to the boards!

Starting a realm isn't the easiest of tasks, but it certainly isn't impossible. Your biggest asset is going to be getting people that are interested to help you get things off the ground; realms cannot be built by one set of hands alone.

As for the semantics of actually getting things up and going, I would advise that you pop over to Alberta Belegarth's Resource Store, and download Cib's New Realm Starter Kit. It is by no means exhaustive, nor the only way of doing things, but it certainly gives you a head start. As well, be sure to lurk around the boards here (the Search feature helps alot). And if you don't find what you're looking for, just ask in the appropriate board; there are always people with answers swinging through.

To get more specific than that is difficult, since realm bureaucracy is so multifaceted, but be sure to ask questions as you go, and we'll answer them as best we can. Another great thing to do is to reach out to a nearby group. Most realms are willing to drive the hour to come help support a newly founded realm, and it's also great to get your new guys out to other realms, because it helps them see that the sport is bigger than your little pocket of folks and increases the chances that they will stay for long haul.

Anyway, best of luck, and please post again if you have any more specific questions.

Cheers,

Thurat
