Admittance to the Realm Map

Leader of the realm Thorum, located in Batavia Illinois.

I have attempted to contact people several times in the past about admitting our realm to the “realm map” on the Belegarth home page, with no results.

I ask again that you admit us to the map so that when people look at the home page we aren’t totally overlooked. I speak for the realm when I say we wish to grow not only the sport, but our realm numbers.

We have been a realm for over 4 years now and hold practices weekly at Engstrom Park. Practices take place every Friday from 4pm-7pm starting in late March.

Don't feel bad, I think this happens a bit. But yes, somehow we need to have a way of doing this easily. It is of critical importance that established groups get on the map. A similar issue is removal or declaring groups inactive on Geddon.org. Do we have a policy for checking up on that? I know of several California groups that have been dead a long while on there...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Realm Map was Derian's project. Might try catching him when he's not working on actual....work.

I also want to bring up the fact that the map as a whole has not been updated since 2008.

this is a serious problem, I have been told in the past that "people dont look at the realm map"

when in fact, many of the links lead right to it and its the first thing new people check. I have already met two people in the community that heard about our practice and went to the map looking for us, when they saw that we weren't on it they stopped looking because their was no practices in the immediate vicinity.

later they found out our realm was indeed active because I bumped into them by accident and assured them that we were still around.

see what im trying to say? by not having an accurate realm map I could have lost 2 potential fighters and not known about it.

I would be able to understand that kind of a debacle if we had just started our practice. But like I said before, we are going on our 5th year of being a realm.

I understand people have lives outside of belegarth, but no updates to the realm map since 2008 is a little ridiculous.

When I looked at your realm location I was like "wait, there's a realm in Aurora?!", and then I realized that that was exactly the point.

I don't have copious amounts of time, but I think if the map was maybe left open-source, then it could be updated by anyone. I'm pretty sure most Google generated docs have that feature. I'm sure someone wandering through here knows how to get ahold of Derian. I want to say I had him on FB, but I can't remember his name....

If you look back through some of the old threads, Geddon.org and the like have had a problem with spam.

There is an option for dualism, where you might have a link to a google page (like events page Acorn made) and have an image that gets updated every year or other year.

But the real answer to the question "why don't we have an updated realm page" is because you haven't made one yet...

I think his point was that the page that is on the Belegarth.com "Realms" page is moderated by Derian, and is almost 5 years out of date. The only solution then, at the time, is to contact Derian and see what can be done about remedying the situation.

NVM, I was thinking it was an image like the ancient Dag one, been awhile since i perused the front site rather than hitting up the BOW or the forums. Disregard.

dont worry i have also had issues, the AoF of Ravenshold has moved states and been established in Missouri for nearly 2 years but haven't been moved from tx yet. one person tried to overthrow me as leader and admin due to the fact " we wernt even on the map in the right place so we were like we didnt exist" and he had supposed reason to try. in any case it is a bit disheartening to try to get new people that have ether moved into the area or want to find us, itd prolly help the " is there a realm in x area" posts on the boards.
