Herald's Tabbards

I'm going to be having a yellow for heralding purposes at our upcoming event, and just at practices in general. Not to mention volunteering my services at the next Chaos Wars. But I wanted to add a little pizzazz to my tabbard, like black trim and the sith insignia on it. Would this perhaps make it too difficult to discern that I was a herald? Anybody have any unique herald tabbards?

I've seen a few knight's tabards that are lined with yellow on the inside for the sake of a quick flip inside-out and "ready service to the realm." So I doubt anyone would have problems with the trim.

I'd either drop the logo, or keep it small so it would not be too confusing.

Unarmed guy in a yellow tabard -- I'd hope they'd get the point.

I'm not a knight, but my tabard is my colors on one side, yellow on the other. It's silver trimmed so that's fine. As for your unit signal, I agree with Teej, keep it small and you should be fine.

IMHO, if you are going to be heralding, then you shoud be weaing a yellow tabard, with no other markings on it (trim is not what I consider markings). When you are heralding, you should not be associated with your unit or realm. You are an impartial judge, not a member of this unit or that unit.

This is my personal opinion on the matter, there are no rules stating either. So like everyone already said, as long as it's small, a unit stmbol should be no issue, but if I were you, I would do the reversable thing. All your colors and unit stuff on one side, yellow on the other.

I agree with Soo. Having no unit markings on the tabbard is a simple reminder that you are not taking sides.

But, take it as you will.

I'm not taking sides on the matter, just wanted to point out that I know Gorlock has his name and a very small Horde symbol on the bottom corner of his herald tabard. At least in that case, I know it is not to show favoritism to any particular unit, it is just a way of identifying the tabard as his. After all, it's pretty easy to mix up yellows when they all look the same. Doing a double-sided tabard is a great option too, either will work. It's your decision.

Hey folks I really do appreciate the input. I can see how the very concept of being a Marshall (or any kind of referee for that matter) should be seen as impartial. But my desire to have SOME sort of symbol on it is pretty pressing. I was wondering if we have some kind of universal Herald symbol? If not, somebody should make it. I just now had the idea of putting my unit symbol on it, except cutting off the top half of it and replacing it with a painted on rice hat or whatever they're made of...y'know, the typical herald's hat.

The 'official symbol' for heralds IS the yellow tabard. We don't want to make things too complicated on those who donate their time at events. :-)

Haha I hear ya. And I do look forward to donating my time at events...namely Chaos. Just one of the ways in which to contribute to the community as a whole I think.
