Grappling

3.6.3. No throws, unarmed strikes, or joint/nerve holds.

What would you consider a throw? Using Judo guidelines, it is using two points of control to move an opponent. Using greco-roman wrestling, it is any technique which leaves an opponent prone.

My personal idea is that it is any technique which lifts a person off their feet.
Your thoughts?

To me, the rule is there to prevent people from taking someone down in grapples in an uncontrolled manner. You can use martial-arts style thows if you guide the person to the ground, basically, but don't fling them around.

I guess specific wording would be "A throw is using body-on-body contact to make your opponent hit the ground in a forceful manner."

Though I doubt you meant this, the wording you gave as an example could be stretched to include shield bashes, and I'd hate to see the "no throws" rule interpreted to exclude bashes. It's too fun watching the pink-lunged runners fly through the air when one of our bigger guys gets a solid bash on 'em.

Angmarth first explained grappling to me as such: "Controlled high school wrestling"

That's the best way to think of grappling for at least a good many years.

I see a difference between "lifts" and "knocks over."

So greco-roman is a good point of reference?

Embara's post was in response to a bot (since deleted) which originally necroed the thread.
