Right. I challenge you to rebuild Sycharth, single-handed and overnight, on the battlefield at Rag and then defend it at all costs. Also single-handedly.

You may, of course, run away at the first hint of an Englishman, and flee in abject terror if you don't have any French or Irish there to back you up.

Oh, sorry, wrong Glyndwr. ;-)

Just kidding of course, I'm actually a fan of the big O.

In any case, good luck, congrats, hope everything goes well for you.

Lies. No one is a fan of my slack-jawed reprobate of a father. At best, you might begrudgingly tolerate him.

How is knighthood attained in this organization?

Belegarth (and Dagorhir, too, which is basically the same) doesn't have one formalized system of knighthood. The rationale for this is that, in order to have "Knight" be a title that everyone respects, it would be necessary for everyone to opt-in to a roleplaying environment in which chivalry is the default standard, but that's clearly not the case (and pay no heed to the word "Medieval" in the banner above) because of the wide variety of characterizations (or lack thereof) that can be found in this organization.

As a result, there are various knightly traditions, the most well-known of which are the Knights of Avalon, Knights of Numenor, and Knights of Gwynedd. Willem Royberte is part of the Avalonian tradition, while Zwei comes from the Gwynedd tradition. The knight to whom I am a squire, Sir Devaryn, was a squire of Sir Owen, who was (if I recall correctly) also Zwei's knight. Each order has its own standards for knighthood, but they generally entail varying degrees of realm service (running events, holding office), fighting prowess (battlefield leadership, individual skill) and craftsmanship (making garb, constructing weapons and armor). I have set some standards for myself as well, including development of a historically-based persona, with material components to match, by next year's Ragnarok.

Does that answer your question?

I fully endorse Magnus' description; though for those keeping track at home I was squired to Lorrymar, the current King of Gwynedd, not Owen (who instead is my father).

Right, right, sorry to misremember.

With regards to the squire/knight relationship: since there's no official/institutionalized system for knighthood, there is no "king" to bestow knighthood on the organizational level. Therefore, it is the knight who determines his/her squire's eligibility for induction into an order; in other cases, however, knighthood is bestowed by a vote or consensus from the unit or realm or other group that maintains the knightly tradition.

I felt that needed elaborating.

Congrats to Sir Willem Royberte Glyndwr for earning his knighthood. I tell ya buddy, that was brutal.

Anyone have any pictures or video? I saw quite a few cameras there.

Willem's a good guy and I'd like to thank Khatovar, The Kyulicks, Serenity, House Dregoth, the Wolfcaller clan, CuSith, the Ravens, and anyone else who came out to participate in this.

Great job, Willem. You deserve it and congrats.

Congrats bro. My fav was rock paper scissors. A much needed rest for you.

Speed does not equal intense. Realistic, brutal, savage, simulated dark age combat is intense. You want speed, go run track!!
