Armageddon Feasts

Postby Brutus » Mon Apr 28, 2003 8:53 pm

Just a heads up since there is some conflicting info out there:

There will indeed be 3 feasts at Armageddon II.

The first feast will be held early in the week, Monday or Tuesday (I will make up my mind soon). This will probably be a grill-out style feast, with some very simple side dishes and a TON OF MEAT of varying varieties.

The Blood Falcons will be hosting a feast in the latter part of the week (probably Thursday?)

The MAIN feast will be FRIDAY NIGHT. This will be the whole deal: soups, sides, bread, cheese, main course, dessert and drinks.

Just wanted to make sure the facts were out there, such as they are, straight from the source.

I'm up for Tuesday. Monday might be too soon and people MIGHT not be getting there before Tuesday because of random things.

If we have the feast on Monday, maybe a few people at least will decide to get there earlier so they can get that extra free meal.

If you're going to go with the Monday evening feast in mind, Brutus, perhaps you might consider a feast on the "lighter" side of things... like breads, meats, cheeses and such that people can make sandwiches out of with some fruit to go with. Anything that's left over you can always use through the week for your own -- and others if you choose -- lunches. Just a suggestion. :D

Sir Argoth has volunteered to help out with Monday's Feast. He's Amish.

So like, I dunno, bring a flashlight or something, because he's not real big on the whole electricity thing.

I say Tuesday, not only will you have more people there but it gives people more of a chance to settle in rather than scurrying to the feast because they just got there, although they should already have cleared their schedual for the Geddon' week. ::glare::

*raises hand* ME!!!!

If I can get out of work early enough I'll be leaving as soon as I'm off, but I might not be able to get out early.

Cane:

There's a good chance I will take you up on that. Just so you know, cooking a feast isn't just the glory of roasting huge sub-primals of beef over an open fire. A lot of it is the true ass-work: prepping veggies, serving, and the dreaded clean-up.

But the one advantage is you get to graze the ENTIRE time, but the disadvantage is after cooking for a whole day/afternoon, you really don't feel like eating anything.

Anyone else who wants to help, just come find me at Armageddon, there will be a ton of work to do for the feasts.

Dammit, Brutus... didn't I teach you anything?! If you cook you're not supposed to clean up! Just threaten people with never having another feast if the cook has to do the cleaning.... you can usually get enough people that way so there's not too much for just one person to do. Delegate, man! Or, volunteer people like I've been known to do... you'll soon have the "Don't make eye contact! Don't make eye contact with Brutus!" fear working for you, too! ;)
If I'm there, I'll see if I can help ya out with cooking or cleaning.

Well, there is that method,

Postby Brutus » Thu May 01, 2003 4:25 pm

And that has worked for me, in the past. I'm trying to broaden my horizons with a new method this year, and that's whining publicly beforehand, with the hope that I will shame a few good souls into volunteering for the * job of cleaning.

Thanks for walking right into that one. :)

(actually, I don't really do much cleaning after the feasts usually. Last Octoberfest Hellhammer did a splendid job of clean-up, even doing the dishes)

Walk into what? Me? Walk into volunteering? ME? Don't think so... I volunteer to help alot cuz I know just how hard it is to get people to volunteer. I guess when people finally just don't get a feast or things just don't come together, they'll realize that it takes people willing to give up their fun time at events to make them happen. It simply amazes me that people think that things 'just happen' and could care less about the amount of work involved. THAT's why I offer my help.
So, if it makes you happy to think that your whining worked on me, then be happy. I'm happy to help whenever I can... I'll bring the cheese for your whine! What's for dinner?

I think the problem with the grave-digging is that this topic is Armageddon 3, but most of the threads relate to Armageddon 2, but a new user to the boards may mistakenly think they are talking about Armageddon 3 things, when they are gravedigging old Arm 2 stuff inadvertantly.

I also do a lot of cooking fror myslef and friends when I get tired of them bugging me to cook for them. So if you are looking for any volunteer cooks, I would be more than happy to volunteer my services. just PM me if you would like the help.
