What to name ourselves??

In the middle ages, people took potions for their ailments.
In the 19th century they took snake oil.
Citizens of today's shiny, technological age are too modern for that.
They take antioxidants and extract of cactus instead.

I voted for Ered Mithrin because it's the least recognizable name from a copyrighted source. Not that The Lord of the Rings isn't copyrighted, but at least it's consistent with the naming of several other realms, and the Tolkien estate doesn't seem to mind.
* Frostmourn is the Lich King's sword in Warcraft.
* Angmar sounds too much like Angmarth, a somewhat distinguished person in Belegarth.
* Icewind Dale, GrayCloak Hills, Narfell, and Anauroch are all locations in The Forgotten Realms.
Wizards of the Coast is very protective of their ideas and could give you some legal grief. It has happened with other groups.
Anyway, I strongly recommend choosing a unique name for your realm.

Something a number of realms have done is to figure out a phrase that describes their location and translate that into a Tolkien language.
For instance, Nan Belegorn is 'valley of the mighty trees', which is a decent descriptor for the area we're located in.
