Footwork Practice

Postby Vrohi » Thu Jan 28, 2010 4:41 pm

Alright guys! So Ive gotten a lot of information on what I should be doing with my upper body and how to swing and how to drill and all that, but now Im wondering what I should be doing with my legs. What should I be doing to increase my footwork skill? I actually don't know a whole lot about this subject...Kyrian showed me a tad at Okfest but I dont really remember a ton of it. So please just let me know how to move my feet and how to do EVERYTHING thats important for my footwork development

well the basics will work for a long while.

running 20 minutes
ladder drills, google it
hill, sprints uphill
wind sprints, or with a parachute, google it
lunges, sister mary katherines, basically jump from lunge to lunge. google it.
squat jumps, lots of them

if you did 4 of the 6 everyday you would be wicked fast footed.

Plyometrics, my friend. Use limewire to download the P90X Plyometrics. Google to learn what it does exactly.

actually dancing is a great practice for foot work. teaches balance, anticipation, coordination and reading as long as you are doing a ballroom type pairs dancing.

you would also not want to view any P90X Plyometric videos on Youku.. that would be questionably illegal as well... tho im not sure about chinese copyright laws.

Jump rope and get into the "tricks" like skipping double etc. It helps hand eye coordnation, if you need to lose weight it burns more calories, its better cardio, and it just straight looks cool
