Thanks chicken. I hadn't found numbers for fiberglass to compare with. It doesn't look like its worth trying.

1) If I'm looking at the right section (and I'm pretty sure I am) KiteBuilder.com is stocking a LOT more then just .505 now... I personally suggest the .602, though I don't work with kitespar much.

2) BestDagStuff.com. I got my order in last week, but it took two weeks before Bruce (the proprietor) shipped it out. Also, he is charging way too much on shipping... My order was $28 and the shipping was $32. I know I've shipped larger items for less before.

Regardless, the materials are top grade. I got 4 of the 3/8" square fiberglass cores and they are beautiful. The blade fries are also of exceptional quality, made with what appears to be the mythical 3# EVA that everybody is looking for right now, though I'm not sure on that one. The actual EVA he is selling is your basic 2# grey in 6' rolls... I highly suggest the wider 40" sheets because the 12" sheet is hardly large enough to work with.

Anywho, just my two cents.

Random tip I came across through trial and error. Goo-gone + Bar Keepers Friend = awesome for removing contact cement from stainless steel counters/tables.

http://www.farmandfleet.com/ 11/16th's and 3/8th's solid fiberglass cores
under common sense fence. (also can be found in IL if any more states have these let me know.)

Farm and Fleets are common throughout Wisconsin too. Also since the brothers who owned farm and fleet split up there are now fleet farms around which are identical to farm and fleet, just that one brother owns the normal ones and the other owns the backwards ones.

Any success using the foam underlayment from the wood laminate section of Home Depot or Lowes? If I remember correctly it was good quality stuff and it probably would wear better then a camp pad....

If i want to make a red two handed sword that's about 52", what would the best type of core to buy that makes it as lightweight as possible and doesn't flex much? We tried 1/2 inch PVC, but it still flexes a ridiculous amount and i don't want to make the handle any thicker.

another thing. i found that DAPing 2 fiberglass rods together and wrapping them in ductape works really well. I have a 38" strong really light blue sword with that as a core.

also we put 3 cores together this way to create a 50" battleaxe and it works like a charm.

this could be really helpful if you have thinner fiberglass that flexes too much.

1/2" sq. fiberglass. I have some 48" sticks of it and I'll be in Dun Abhon two Sundays from now. Come to practice and bring $20 and one of them is yours.

Or find yourself some 3/4" round fiber, some really frikkin stout bamboo, or some rattan.

Anybody have experience with the tubular polyethylene from foamforyou.com? Or for that matter, any tubular closed-cell (besides pool noodle, I've worked with it enough to realize just how bad it is).

Seems like the stuff could make foamsmithing simple weapons much easier.

Musician's Friend sells band poles and has FREE SHIPPING on all orders, with no minimum order.

I've ordered multiple times and have never been disappointed. Stock is usually always in, and orders get to your door in about a calendar week.

Just paid ~ $31.00 for an 8' and 5' to make a spear and a (Dane Axe).

Use these guys.

Hey guys, I recieved a bow for Christmas that I am very excited to use next time I get a chance to play, but I was wondering if you guys knew the best place to get arrows? I know walmart sells them but I was wondering if there was another place to get them from that would give me more bang for my buck.

Thanks,
Scott

So what is the best places to order foam that is similar to the blue Wal-Mart foam and the dark grey foam that u can also get from Wal-Mart. Saw a lot of talk about cores and a little bit about ppl testing different kinds of foam. Thanks

Fiberglass rods in all shapes and sizes. Also Lexan if you have a desire to try it as a shield core.

http://www.eplastics.com/Plastic/Fiberglass-threaded-rod-and-nuts

Foam Supplies in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North Dakota. Round fiberglass(3/8, 1/2 and 3/4"), blue foam, military foam (sometimes, if that location has a military surplus section), DAP, etc. Also has a hunting section for archers.
