Sew Classic Rodeo fabric...

Postby Sir_Mel » Wed Apr 14, 2010 1:08 am

Has anybody on here worked the sew-classic Rodeo fabric before? I like using the the twill because it's a little lighter and has a nicer feel after you wash it a few times, but the it doesn't have some of the colors that are offered in target. The rodeo seems like a pretty good middle ground between the two (durable but light, and available in the colors I want), I've just never used it before and wanted to see if anybody else had any knowledge on the matter.

Thanks,

I have not and I generally avoid Jo-Ann's for fabric whenever possible. Find a local fabric store; they're basically ALWAYS cheaper.

Not when Joann's pops out 50% coupons constantly. And trust me, there ARE no local fabric stores around here.

BigJ: I meant including the 50% off coupons.

I've got this store about half an hour from me where everything in the store is $2/yd. I've been buying Onsaburg cotton there and turning it into pretty * passable imitations of linen tunics.

But yeah, if you live in some forsaken land where no fabric stores are and don't feel like ordering online, Jo-Ann's will do, if it's on sale.

It's not so much that there are no fabric stores, it's just that in much of the Chicago land area if it's not a chain it dies a slow and body business death.

Jimmy, that's great for you! That means you get good prices on fabric you want, then, you get the fabric you want for $2/yd as they go out of business!

If they exist around here, I can't find them. Phone book and yellow pages online expose no secrets to me.

If you can make it to Evanston, there is an amazing fabric store called Vogue Fabrics.

http://www.voguefabricsstore.com/store/home.php

You have to shop around for their specials but their remnants are often better than the stuff you find at the chain stores.

It's a bit of a drive, but from looking at the site it might be worth it. Some of the classes they offer sound like an awesome idea.

If we have the time Mel, we can go to Ottawa Walmart. I'll drive.

Not for much longer. They are phasing out ALL fabric sections to eliminate the need for a constant employee in the section.
