Congratulations Peter

Postby Michael » Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:10 pm

Belegarths very own Peter the Quick won the KJ memorial tournament at Amtgard's Gathering of the Clans. This tourney happned in the driving rain so it didnt include all the talent on site much less all the talent in Amtgard. Still, I was observing from across the field and there was a good deal of stick represented. Nice going, Peter.

Man I can't wait till Amtgard doesn't think of Belegarth as a little brother. No offense meant of course. The more fighters we have cross game and whoop * the better.

I am sorry if that came out at all like talking down to Belegarth. I really only intended to congratulate Peter for beating a lot of Amtgard vetrans at their own game.

Oh no no no, MHoG, don't get me wrong, that's not how I meant that. My opinion comes from E-Sam. That's all. You were totally fine. I <3 MHoG.

Peter put on a pretty solid show, he's definitely getting better.

I do think of Bel as a younger brother, but not in a patronizing way. More in an encouraging and supportive way. You guys are working hard to bring your game up and I want very much to see you succeed. I hope that's not a bad thing.

Nope, you're fine. I really didn't mean to offend. It was directed at people on E-sam that would never see it or post here anyway. Obviously if you're posting here you're golden.

I dont get your point BJ. If they wont see the post, it sounds like bravado speak and that is not my impression of you at all.

I understood your statement from the outset. ESam used to be full of condescending flame warring trolls. It has become decidely civil these last few years. While it still has the opinnionated unenlightened peeps that you will find on any forum. We just dont rain the luv down on the like we used too.... *SIGH* I miss the old ESam.

For one I am loving the crossgaming and the way it is really taking root. The key is for peeps to playby the ruleset of the game they are playing at the moment not their "primary game" and keeping a decent attitude.

I think of Peter going to Amtgard events like Belegarth sending its champion to show how far we've come. So my train of thought was Peter winning -> Amtgard -> the things I'd read on E-sam (mostly inregards to Belegarth videos) -> sharing my opinion. It was probably inappropriate for this thread, I apologize.

No apologies are needed. Your speaking your mind.

I dig the fact that Petie is working with and a part of SKBC this is helping the growth between the two games.
More time crossgaming wil continue to erode the silly my brand is better than your brand *. ESam is full of many self proclaimed experts who cant necessarily back it up with action.

I wish I could find some Amtgard tournaments closer to Ohio that have a lot of the veterans. The closest Rising Winds website last I checked wasn't very up-to-date with events. Is there a better website that I could look at? I saw you guys had an event at Cooper's Lake once...does that still go on?

I think a few years back there was some smacktalk reviewing our techniques on a message board and well, there was a difference of opinion.

Basically turned into a game of my nerd-fu is stronger than yours...

Actually now I want their website ;)

I only got to encounter Amt in Canada, great way to blow off steam after an 11 hour road trip, did some 1 on 1, loved their flails, they did a small RP thing which I observed the next day, really wasn't my thing. But I certainly enjoyed the fighting. Oddly enough one of them started showing up on our field several years down the road.

Though I wouldn't consider either big brother, just a cousin of the sport, and maybe we're just both off in the head ;)

ESam has a calendar, but I dont put a lot of stock in its content.
I'd suggest consider joining the RW Yahoogroup. You would likely have better luck there.

Congrats PtQ! I first "experienced" ESam about 5 years ago and wow...it has changed for the better. Very respectable place for discourse.
