Monster language?

Postby Tails » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:44 pm

Do monsters have a language? I mean, not just Jargon and bad grammar, like a whole language. Even if it was some form of pig Latin or something similar, I think I'd be cool to have the green people have a "native tongue"

You thinking about going monster, Tails?

The biggest issue is that the learning of a whole other set of language, especially one without any native speakers, is that it is incredibly time consuming. I know that Salamander has learned a few phrases in Black Speech for another LARP, so she might be a reference on it.

Better late than never, I suppose. And yes, I was learning it for a while. I had a friend who would text me a phrase, I would translate it, and send back the translation, to see if I got it right. Then I would formulate a response, translate it into Black Speech, and send it back, and so on and so forth. It made for slow conversation, but we grasped the basics fairly quickly because of it. The problem is when you do not have someone to talk to in it. Get a partner, and you can learn anything. I just don't see many of the Belegarth monsters going to the effort though. I pretty much only remember how to tell people I'm going to eat them alive, but knowing how the language sounds, and interspersing it with actual words I remember, it sounds like I really do know what I'm talking about, and nobody knows enough to call me out!
If something is worth doing, it's worth getting absolutely filthy over!

I wrote/adapted a chunk of words for a Goblyn tongue. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I did with them.
