On the way back from an event this weekend, one of my fighters asked if it was legal to kick back shields. My immediate thought was him lifting his leg and plowing it right in the middle of a back shield, sending said fighter flying to the ground. Thus my initial response was "Gods no". However, then I began thinking more about it, and decided I didn't have an answer for him and that I would consult the boards. Here are my concerns.
Shield kick in middle of shield may injure fighter somehow
shield kick near/to shield edge could displace shield to allow for an attack to get around it to chosen target area
This came up due to explaining the "turtle-ing" technique employed by back shield fighters. I did explain that if they don't know your behind them, slamming into them like that could get you ejected from an event for safety reasons.
anyway, thoughts on this matter?
