Take a look:

Someone was asking a while ago whether there were a more "hardcore" version of this sport. The video I posted looks like it fits that description.

So, what do you guys think? Intensity, technique, etc. Anything you notice that is worthy of comment.

Is Bangor the only to think it's the "Order of Proctologists" here? Why does everyone have to have such a crazy name?

3:07 is Bangor's personal favorite.

Overall thoughts? This is a brawling league with medieval flair. Several of the fighters are under-padded for what they are doing. Only saw one or two instances of grappling. Noticed several times where a real weapon would end a fight, yet they continued with the match. Weapons looked lighter than historical norms. Also noticed everyone was a Knight or a Squire. Bangor not very impressed. An average WMA practitioner would tear these guys a new one.

The music made me want to rip off my genitals. God I hate that ****.
The fighting was quite intense. Like EMP for retarded rednecks.

Seems interesting. To be fair, this is a clips compilation. If you look around YouTube, they have some vids of actual fights, which give me a much better impression of the fighting. Overall, they seem like an interesting group. Very EMP, at least in appearance.

Here's a YouTube vid of one of their better fighters (from what I saw), fighting a less experienced fighter. Like I said, the impression I get from this vid is much more favorable.

Watching that other video, the flail seems to be cheesy skill on a stick as much in their game as it is in ours . . .

Watching Slagar's video does put it in a better light. It's a little more interesting now.

Just a note:

"Ordo Procinctus" is actually a pretty cool name, imo.

"Ordo" means "order"

"Procinctus" means "girded for battle."

Secondary thoughts. There's a few flaws in their system that could easily make it one of the best transitional systems. Notably weapon weights don't have to be historical norms, and what constitutes a death is largely up to the discretion of the herald. From the first video, it looks like punching a metal helm with a gauntlet would have equaled death back in the day.

Positive notes. A few good ideas can be garnered. The maximum height of a shield is your waist to your toes, and the minimum girth is your fingers to your elbow. That makes for a decent sized shield for any participant. The garb standards are clearly enforced. They pulled a lot of genres together including martial arts, SCA, and PizzaHut.

I guess I will have to say I'm mostly impressed by their overall dedication.
