I am not sure if this is the right forum for this. I am looking for some recommendations for face paints that are healthy for the skin and hold up well under heat and sweat. I figure we have a lot of trolls and orcs...etc. Someone must have researched this.
Food coloring is the standard. If you want details and stuff, get a hold of Crynolyn, she has tons of exp. with coloring up, and she always looks great when she does.

Food coloring is the go-to for changing skin color. It looks way more natural and is easy to apply evenly. It does sweat-off, but even faded looks better than regular acrylic paint, which tends to flake-off. Grease paints withstand sweat better than acrylic or food color, but don't allow your skin to breathe and gets really uncomfortable to wear over large areas. Grease paint and acrylic work best for doing detail work like stripes and such that isn't possible with food color. As far as being "healthy" goes, I would assume the food coloring is probably the least likely to have any negative effects on the skin since it can be eaten (though I have never heard of anyone having adverse reactions to any face paint).
